Columbia ETP 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Has anyone started a thread yet? The application is due in 174 days and as you can see I'm already obsessing.

Anyone else?!

I'm applying for psych! I've applied to a ton of schools that have a psych MSN also. Yale, NYU, Pace and Stony Brook University. I'm so nervous though. I mean, it's Columbia!

I have an AAS in paralegal studies, a BA in English and an MBA. I'm worried because I don't have a lot of experience in healthcare, but I do have a lot of experience with children with behavioral and mental health issues. Good luck! Hopefully we'll be classmates!

I figure they look kindly upon people that have masters degrees already. I bet you'll get in somewhere - I hope you at least get into your top choice and then some! Aside from here, I've applied to U of Rochester, Vanderbilt, Yale and MGH. I really don't even know how to feel. When I began working on applications I thought I had a very strong application and would definitely get in somewhere. Now I'm not really sure. I suppose the self-doubt stage has to follow the confidence that let me get all my applications in. Hopefully you're not getting worried - here's hoping we all get into our top choice schools!

Don't worry, snoozyd. I'm not really confident about my applications either since my pre-req grades aren't very good and my overall gpa isn't that high either. I hope they look at my experience and extracurriculars and give me a chance! Good luck everyone! Hope for the best! No use in worrying too much everything will fall into place! :D

And I agree about the personal statement it is definitely tough to cut it down to two-pages double spaced which is probably the least we can write compared to many schools.

Thanks! I think my personal statement is great (my BA is in English. If I didn't do well on the writing portion, I'd have that degree revoked lol), but I'm worried that my GPA just isn't good enough. Columbia is my first choice, so here's hoping I do get in! Good luck to you!!

Zoikers, you're absolutely right. No use in worrying. Worrying won't help our chances. Good luck to you!

Thanks a bunch! I've been in a funk this weekend after my GRE so I haven't touched on my essay but I'll start tonight. Thanns again and hopefully we'll be classmates! :)

Its okay Meg just try to focus on the essay now! They're gonna look at the whole applicant. Just started with my personal statement and trying to cut down from my main personal statement is pretty hard...I'm in the same boat.

Did anyone get an email or notification that their application is being reviewed?? This is for people who have completed their entire application (aka there are no red X's when you check application status).

It's almost November and decisions are given by February so I was just wondering.

Taking GRE tomorrow - nervous! Anyone have any words of wisdom?

Thanks for the response. MY (anticipated) GRE scores seem kind of low but I'm hoping they will look at whole package (fingers crossed). I totally think your EMT experience will count -- it's awesome! It's a related profession and similar to nursing, I believe, in intensity. Good luck!

BTW - where do you live now? Just curious where other applicants are from....and as a native New Yorker, I'd be glad to help with questions about the city (I'm no expert, but I can give some tips)

Hey all,

I think this is my first time on here. I am applying to the Critical Care Tract. I have been swamped with all the different application requirements. Harlem 15 i think you can submit your gre scores directly on the day you take your test. The school should have them before your app is due, i think will be fine. Your grades look great, congrats! The essay was a little tough for me to cram down to two pages but i think it came out decent. I use to work as an EMT but not sure the extent of experience they are looking for. Good luck to everyone, hope to see you all in NY!

I'm from Long Island. And I have to say, my diagnostic scores for the GRE aren't very good. I have to take it for Yale, but am exempt from Columbia due to my graduate degree. However, I'll probably still send it to them anyway.

I just signed up for the ETP info session on Nov 7. Anyone else going?

Thanks for the Response Harlem,

I currently live in Oakland Ca. Born and raised on the west coast in a town of 5000 people. NY will most definitely will be an adjustment. Im looking at apartments as close to campus as possible. I was thinking about renting a two bedroom and just get a nursing or med student as a roommate. Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Side note, where in NY do you live? Will you move our commute?

They started looking at applications already? Dang. I haven't submitted mine yet so I can't say.
