Hello everyone!
Felt the need to make this thread as I couldn't find one for the upcoming Fall semester at COC. Latest one was for Spring of this year but I'm applying for Fall 2015.
Hope that it eventually helps those that are applying/waiting.
Just turned in my application to COC. Also applied to AVC. Curious to as how everyone is feeling throughout this whole process.
I've taken the TEAS test already through AVC and scored an 83%. I've got a 3.0 GPA for A&P and micro. Overall GPA of 3.3. First time applying to both schools. Super anxious to hear back from both schools. Fingers crossed!!!
Anyone still planning on working while in the program? Also, anyone commenting from Palmdale/Lancaster if they do get in?
Yes!! I was in my car, too! It's been half an hour and I'm still crying! I will definitely hit you up with questions. I have so many! I can't believe this day finally came. Thank you so much for your support, excited1!
Hahahah. That is hilarious that we were both in the car a year apart! HAHAHAHA. Seriously, go out to eat and celebrate tonight. Print all the orientation stuff tomorrow and start reading through the requirements to make sure you are ahead of the game. Lots of paperwork, CPR car, Mal practice insurance, drug screen, titers, background checks, physical exam, etc etc. The earlier you start, the better off you will be. Private message me anytime!
Congratulation @cvsimpson78! I am happy that we will get to be attending the program together! I am so excited that I got accepted. @darling24, you still have a chance in getting in! From what I have read on this and previous COC nursing program forums is that not everyone accepts their invitation and 2 of the alternates are chosen to sit in on classes just in case people decide to drop out. (And the chances are very high that 1 or 2 people will drop out.)
aw you're so nice @excited1 Its people like you that give me hope! Thank you again
Of course! We are going into a Profession where we must show compassion and care inside and outside of work! Besides, we are all brother's and sisters now no matter what stage of the journey we are in! First semester, I literally made 30 new friends for life. We got together over winter break and spring break and during the semester. You really do become family. So I feel that other semesters as the same, and even when we start working as RN's. We need to have eachother's back and support eachother, ALWAYS! Keep us posted!

Most definitely. COC seems to be one of the EARLIEST schools to notify. So sometimes, by the time orientation rolls around, people may have been accepted to another program they applied for and then decided to go with the other offer. Then, on top of that, Since school doesn't start until August, things do come up and people change their minds, move, etc. Just keep checking and if they ask you to do any of the requirements, get them done on time so when the time comes if you are called, you are ready to go!
