Hello everyone!
Felt the need to make this thread as I couldn't find one for the upcoming Fall semester at COC. Latest one was for Spring of this year but I'm applying for Fall 2015.
Hope that it eventually helps those that are applying/waiting.
Just turned in my application to COC. Also applied to AVC. Curious to as how everyone is feeling throughout this whole process.
I've taken the TEAS test already through AVC and scored an 83%. I've got a 3.0 GPA for A&P and micro. Overall GPA of 3.3. First time applying to both schools. Super anxious to hear back from both schools. Fingers crossed!!!
Anyone still planning on working while in the program? Also, anyone commenting from Palmdale/Lancaster if they do get in?
I got the email from COC after I submitted my TEAS score.
Dear RN Program Applicant:
We have received your TEAS test results and you are now eligible for selection for the Fall 2015 College of the Canyons RN Program. The selection is scheduled for mid-April and you will receive an email (your COC email) at that time as to whether or not you were selected.
HOLD THE DATE: IF you are selected, you must attend a mandatory orientation scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2015 – 8 am – 12:30 pm.
Thank you for your continued interest in our program
I only applied for COC Fall 2015 nursing program. I will not be working because I'm married with four kids. I could barely keep up with the biology courses! I just took the TEAS V this week at COC.
TEAS 86%
Core Bio GPA 4.0
Overall GPA 3.9
We will find out around April 15th if we got picked. We were told there were about 200 applicants and the top 50 would be chosen. They said not to bother checking your email or worrying about it during spring break because they would not release that information before the 15th. I'm super nervous. Good luck to everyone!
Thank you! I started studying for the test at the beginning of January until I took the test. I thoroughly studied ATI's "Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Version V", I practiced all five tests in McGraw-Hill "5 TEAS Practice Tests" book, I purchased and took both test A & B that ATI offers online ($44 each), and after doing all that I went on YouTube and found "folders" of a lot of TEAS Test V Prep videos and watched all the ones I was weak in. Those videos helped me big time! I highly recommend them.
Good luck you guys! Im in my second semester at COC and I absolutely love this program! They are organized and on time with notifications. They told us the same thing for Fall 2014 that notifications wouldnt go out until 4/15. They were right on schedule. I got the acceptance email and cried!
It is a great program!
Hello Everyone!
I decided to see if I could find a blog in regards to the COC Fall 2015 Nursing application and I found one. I wanted to get an idea of what other applicants' statistics are to see what my chances could be. I will also share mine:
TEAS V: 82.7%
Core Biology GPA: 3.3
Pre-requisite GPA: 3.0
Overall GPA: 3.2
Best of luck to everyone! We will find out this upcoming week if we will be accepted to the program.
cvsimpson78, you are definitely going to get in!
I got the email a few weeks ago stating I am eligible for selection as well. I didn't score that great on the teas 71% , but I recently completed COC's CNA program and got my CNA. I'm hoping that will help me. My core GPA is 2.7 and my overall is 3.0. I'm hoping I can make it in at some point. Haha I know my case looks grim. Good luck to everyone!
