Co-worker eats like a cave woman...

What would you think if a professional RN with a bachelor's degree in nursing who is in an upper level position in the workplace and who is even going to graduate school would eat her lunch with her hands, claiming metal utensils made her cringe and plastic is not always available? I'm talking about eating lasagna, mashed potatos, salad, dessert, etc. with her fingers, taking fingerfuls or using her fingers/hands to take the food and cram in her mouth, and it doesn't matter who is around, patients, family and visitors, the administrator...she acts oblivious to it all. Would you find this disturbing?

So, Americans eat the proper, "better manners" way being that we are a first world country?

To be honest with you I saw a lot of "americans" eating chicken drums or chicken wings with their bare hands.. Should we be offended?

Why do people assume that 3rd world countries are ignorant and primitive??? Ignorance is bliss I guess...

Americans like to think they're better than everyone else.

Fact is people from underdeveloped countries would do just fine in America - whereas Americans would do horribly in an underdeveloped country.

Intolerance seems to be right up there with education when it comes to the snobby populace in the states.

Fixed, thank you. :)

I think you need to mind your own business and stop worrying about petty issues:)! If you don't like it don't eat with her, like somebody said find some other place or time! Or buy her plastic utensils if this will make you feel better:twocents:.

It would gross me out, but I'd turn a blind eye, because who knows what I do that grosses other people out?

since nurses are treated like dirt and often times lunch goes overlooked, she's probably scarffing down the food as quickly as possible.

on a serious side, if that's the way she wants to eat, then so be it. i wouldn't find another place/time to eat. doesn't seem that offensive. now if she were pooping in her pants.....

and on a serious note.. why are some of you so gosh damn quick to attack someone? calling them trolls and what not? it's time to wake up and realize that your crap really does stink and GROW UP

LM*O. Are you serious? This has got to be one of the funniest posts I have seen. All these nurses complaining about money, patients, management, etc... and your worried about your animalistic co worker. Just be happy she isn't eating you (isn't that what most nurses do anyway).:rotfl:

americans like to think they're better than everyone else.

not every person from the united states is like this. in addition, you may find everybody leans toward thinking their way is the best. i think there is a little ethnocentrism in all of us.

fact is people from underdeveloped countries would do just fine in america - whereas americans would do horribly in an underdeveloped country.

i did okay. spent the first week or so with diarrhea, but that is about all.

intolerance is not isolated to the united states.

it is a two way street.

a question....OP is this nurse in fact yourself?

OP has a pattern of informing us of her dislike of one or more of her coworkers, which is of course her perogative. However, the tone and language of these threads repeatedly indicates either serious dissatisfaction with her job and/or career ... or a troll-like, unprofessional, juvenille, mean-spirited need to dissect the personal qualities of others.
