Co-worker eats like a cave woman...

Published

What would you think if a professional RN with a bachelor's degree in nursing who is in an upper level position in the workplace and who is even going to graduate school would eat her lunch with her hands, claiming metal utensils made her cringe and plastic is not always available? I'm talking about eating lasagna, mashed potatos, salad, dessert, etc. with her fingers, taking fingerfuls or using her fingers/hands to take the food and cram in her mouth, and it doesn't matter who is around, patients, family and visitors, the administrator...she acts oblivious to it all. Would you find this disturbing?

It seems like you have alot of problems with your coworkers.

Well, it is certainly unusual. This reminds of me of a friend of mind who was dating this guy who was very anti social. You could not take this guy out in public. If someone accidentally bumped into him on the street he would start cursing at them. He would eat salid with his hands. Another friend of mine went out to dinner to a very nice place with this guy that she thought was going to turn out to be the man of her dreams until he starting scratching his back with the fork. It takes all kinds I guess.

Could it be cultural? There are places where rice, couscous, etc... are eaten with fingers from communal platters and dipped in communal sauces with same fingers - if so she might not think anything is 'off' about her habits. Just a thought.

Yep, I often ate from communal platters with my bare hands when I worked overseas.

Yes, but she isn't in a third world country. She should eat with some better manners.

I feed my dog in a nice clean dog bowl, I don't throw raw meat in the middle of the floor and say go get it.

That's a bit pretentious of you.

LOL Maybe she's from a 3rd world country? Why do we all care about how she eats? As long as she doesn't flick boogers in your food, you're good to go!

So, Americans eat the proper, "better manners" way being that we are a first world country?

Oh no no no....the OP just starts bizarre threads every few days about ONE particular coworker. I think the best thread the OP started was when she tried to diagnose the coworker's "mental condition" to no avail.

The OP is a troll or a bit jealous, I reckon.

OP--I find YOU and your posts about this nurse disturbing.

I respect her choices she is not breaking any laws or policies please redirect your energy on more constructive and productive way. Many cultures eat using their hand and am okay with that.

oh no please nothing is wrong with you for thinking this is crazay!!! my father groing up use to get so mad at me for eating waffles with my hands but no the type of food you are talking about AND TO WORK IN THE HOSPITAL....I mean I wash my hands before eating but sometimes I wish I could shower!!!

... or incredibly bitter. Wonder what she gets up to on the job ... hopefully she flies stuff here and finds out it ain't gonna get her what she wants (whatever that is) and so doesn't bother to pull it on a co-worker.
