CNA salary

Published

I'm not a CNA, have never been one- but I wish I had been. I appreciate CNAs, and I am trying to convince my brother to become one. The job market is wide open for CNAs and he needs a job with benefits. Right now he makes in the $7/hr. range which is hard to live on, even when working 40hrs./wk. Unfortunately, he is pretty much the only income in his household right now while his fiancee is out of work and he could not afford to spend 4-6 weeks in training if the pay is not much more than he makes now. So, if not too intrusive, how much do you make working as a CNA, and do you work in a hospital, LTC, or for an agency? TIA

if you work as a CNA and you live in california try to get into the kaiser permanente system i currently work on a telemetry medsurg floor my rate is $20.43 perhour thats with differential no lie

wow! thats great for CNA although i hear that the pay is really good in cali because the cost of living is really high. cna's in georgia dont get half of that and recently moving from florida they dont make that either the average is anywhere from 7-11 per hour

ya your right cost of living is high here

I'm on the New Hampshire/Mass border. I was told today that pay range in NH for a CNA is anywhere from $10-$12 an hour....but Mass is higher, ranging from $13-$16. I'll definitely be working in Mass once I'm done my training.

precisely the reason i dropped out of my first semester clinicals at an excellent school in sc to transfer to cpcc. charlotte starting pay is usually better i have understood. sc hospitals also pay very low, i refuse to work to help save lives for pennies, that is idiotic. administrators in sc cry about lack of nurses, but lack enough common sense to figure you get what you pay for......duh

Hah thats funny, i went to CPCC as well, but recently moved to CA to attend Cuesta college.

here starting cna's get anywhere from 925 to 13 dollars LTC from the research ive done. agency's as high as 15 i found.

i also found a few places that offer the training so you dont have to pay.

Im in fl i make $11.15 an hour through an agency. they pay more than hospitals and LTC USUALLY. look for short term classes. I got my cna lic in 2 weeks.

I'm starting at a nursing home tomarrow with no experience I'll be making 8.30/hr in TN. I hope your brother gets a break. Do they have any places where you live where he could be a "resident assistant"? I don't think they have to be certified and it might be more stable. I know here they also do programs through the career center where they help you pay for all or most of the CNA class. He could talk to the local career center to see if they do that.

i just got hired for CNA in PA, they are offering/paying for the training thru harrisburg area community college. they offer the classes locally, off campus. i will start at between 12-13 in a LTC facility full time. other nursing homes i found did not pay as much. although that price is with NO benefits, as i get them thru my husbands work. if i wanted benefits, i would only make 925/hr.

I make $10/hour, but since I work nights I get a 13% pay diff., so that makes it $11.30. Since I live in a small town I think it's pretty good pay.

are you also in pennsylvania ?

I make $10.00/hr here in Florida (St. Pete/Clearwater area), with .50 differential since I work 2nd shift.
