Does anyone know of a good website to help me with logarithms? I'm having trouble with solving logarithm and exponential equations...just wanted to know if anyone could help? Thanks in advance:)

I've been a CNA for about 6 months now (I was in the biotech field for 5 years before switching to healthcare). But what I found during my job search was that most hospitals require that u have experience (at least 1 year). That's why I decided to work at a nursing home, gain my experience, and then move on to a hospital....plus nursing homes pay more:)

Just an update.....I had my first test today.....I GOT A 100!!!!!!! (Let the celebration begin!!!!):cheers::cheers: Wow, I took your advice and got a tutor. Honestly, I'm not going to let her take all the credit cuz she really doesn't know what she's doing anyway. But so what, I GOT A 100:) I'm so excited....thank u guys for all of your support:)

Thank u guys soooo much for ur suggestions. My school does offer tutoring thru the math dept, but that doesn't start until Tuesday. I really wanted to conquer the basics and be up-to-date with the homework he assigned from Chapter 2 by Tuesday (our next class). Oh yeah, did I mention I'm taking Micro too! This math class seems so consuming right now, but hopefully it will get better. I'm relying on math links and my memory to help me thru the basic concepts part of the book. Alot of the skills I do remember, so I'm not totally lost. But the tears made me feel a whole lot better...I guess I just felt so overwhelmed. Well, I guess my Friday night will consist of my head buried in my algebra book:)

Ugh, I am soo frustrated. Here's my problem....I'm trying to enter the accelerated program at my school. So, I'm retaking college algebra to get a better grade (when I took alg for my undergrad, I got a C). Well, as u can guess, my math skills are a bit rusty. We started Chapter 2 this week, and bypassed all of the basic concepts of algebra (which I soooo desperately need!!) I guess I'm the minority in the class because I'm not right out of high school, and I don't remember the basic stuff. They don't really give us "older" people a chance to review anything. It's like, "Ok, they should know this stuff, so let's just start with graphing equations". It's very frustrating....so, right now I am going thru 2 chapters of basic concepts. Wow, I have alot to cover. Ugh, just needed to vent......

Hi everyone! I'm taking college algebra this fall, and microbiology too (yeah, I know). I haven't had algebra since 1996, so trust me when I say, I am soooo nervous. I ended up with a C in the class the first time around, that was with little to no effort in attempting to understand what was goin on. So, since my study habits are way better now, I expect to do great in this class (crossing my fingers). My class started yesterday and we're diving right in to Chapter 2 tomorrow (skipping Chapter 1 and a review of basic concepts of algebra). I'm so scared, but we have tutors and a help lab that will help me tremendously. I wish everyone luck this semester:)

Another thing I want to add.......the hardest thing for me when I first started was time management. It seemed like I was always the last one done with rounds, the last to get my residents up for dinner. Its just a matter of being efficient. I've been at this LTC facility for about 2 months and, granted, I do work faster than when I first started. But, I always make sure I spend time talking to the residents, asking them how their day was....not just pulling them out of bed and whisking them off to dinner. I always think about if that was a family member, how would I want them to be treated?

I'm so happy to hear you're doing great. It sounds like a lot of hard work. You've somewhat calmed my fears about what to expect....it's great that the teachers are understanding and willing to listen to the students. How many students are in your class? When I went to the info session, I think she said they were only accepting 24 students/semester. I'm alumni of USF and would looove to be accepted into their nursing school...can't wait to finish my pre-reqs and apply:)

Wow, I could have written your post. Your experience is just like mine!! I am soooo refocused the second time around....I am currently have A's in my pre-reqs but have to retake Micro, Chem and College Algebra cuz I got C's the first time around during my first degree. I'll be applying to several nursing schools in my area once I finish my pre-reqs. I am so determined and know nursing is right for me. I am so sure there are hundreds of people in the same position we are in.....don't let anybody say you can't do it. Go for your dream!!!!

Hey MMW, just wondering how nursing school is going? Is it everything you expected?

After I realized that I wanted to become a nurse, I quit my job in the biotech industry and pursued a job in healthcare as a CNA. Being a CNA, like every job, has its pros and cons. For me, I wanted the patient care experience before I enter nursing school. It is definitely hard work, but very satisfying. It's not for everyone, though. I have never hated it....I get satisfaction knowing I might have made a difference in that residents day, whether it be asking how their day was, or just by holding their hand. Maybe you can volunteer at a hospital and get some exposure to caring for patients first, and then pay the money to take a CNA course (I suggest the CNA training at the Red Cross). Whatever you decide, good luck to you!

Im a new CNA at a nursing home and our survey is coming in August. I really don't have any idea what to expect either. I would like some advice also.....

I was thinking about switching my schedule to work 16 hour shifts on the weekends (7a - 11p). But at the nursing home I work at, we just get paid for 32 hours, not 40. I really just want extra time to study and working those hours would give me time during the week to do so. But thats a hell of a long day though. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get through such a looongg day?

I'm in a similar situation too. I graduated with my BS degree with a not-so-great GPA and I am now wanting to enter the accelerated BSN program at my school. I will stop at nothing to achieve my goal of going to nursing school..no matter what others may say, I will work my hardest to stay focused on what I want to accomplish. It's encouraging to know there are other people out there in a similar situation as I am and that they're out there too fighting for their dream. Good luck to all of us...WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

:monkeydance: I got a 100 on my first test!!!:monkeydance: My online class is about 10 weeks long and so far I love it! To know what is actually going on in your body when you swallow...wow, I had no idea!! All the enzymes, juices and hormones...now I find myself thinking about that everytime I eat something. "Ok, as I chew this food, the juices in my stomach are preparing for the bolus to enter.." I know, I'm crazy. But it's been great...:)
