CNA salary

Published

I'm not a CNA, have never been one- but I wish I had been. I appreciate CNAs, and I am trying to convince my brother to become one. The job market is wide open for CNAs and he needs a job with benefits. Right now he makes in the $7/hr. range which is hard to live on, even when working 40hrs./wk. Unfortunately, he is pretty much the only income in his household right now while his fiancee is out of work and he could not afford to spend 4-6 weeks in training if the pay is not much more than he makes now. So, if not too intrusive, how much do you make working as a CNA, and do you work in a hospital, LTC, or for an agency? TIA

Specializes in ICU, Alzheimer's care.

i work in an ltc...i make $10.25/hour for second shift. first shift is $9.25, third is $10.25. the benefits are what make it worthwhile.

i guess it depends on where you live. common sense in sc (my native state) is not so common here, especially among management...

I make about 12/hr after shift differential, this is in a MN hospital.

I make 12.25 second shift, 13 for weekends and overnights. But base pay is only 11.50, with no experience. Oh, and I work in LTC, but its not state run, its a private facility

I work on the Intensive Care Unit of Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware and I only make 9.13/hr plus differential as a CNA. Christiana Hospital 40 mins north of here though pays 14.50/hr as a Patient Care Tech, although I don't know if they give differential. I have to work overtime every single week just to make enough money to make ends meet and I don't have a car so I cant drive to Christiana to work at the higher paying job.

I make $10/hr for base pay but since I work evenings and weekends I actually make $12/hr. I work my ass off some night, other nights I am bored.

I would personally never do this for a living but it is great experience for me while in nursing school! I've learned a ton and it puts me ahead of other students who have no hospital experience.

Can anyone from Western Ma or Ct please tell me what you make as a CNA? Thanks this would be very helpful.

Does anyone no a quick easy way to go from cna to lpn or online....

Specializes in Cna.

I'm on the weekend program at a ltc facility. So the weekend program which you would work every weekend is 17.00 an hour. my base rate if i work during the week is 13.75 hr. which isnt bad. I normally only ever work the weekends which is great! 5 days off and only work 2

At my nursing home in Ohio I started out @ $10.25/hr three years ago and now make $11.30/hr. My friend only started out just above $9/hr three years ago. My cousin has been an aide for less than a year and started out @ $11.30/hr just out of school at my job.

I just finished school in march but unable to find employment. i live in the atlanta area. the nursing home positions pay like 7 and 8 an hour so i have heard. the jobs i have applied for say i need at least a year experience. i hope i dont forget what i learned. i am trying to get into a good lpn program but they all have wait list. so i need to gain employment as a cna in the mean time. any advice

I work casual call at a private small LTC facility with 40 residents. I get 11.48/hr am, 12.23/hr pm, and 12.48/NOC. Starting wage for a full-time regular employee at this facility is 9.48/hr.
