What did you think was most difficult?

Specializes in Long term care.

I was super nervous and it took me like 30-45 minutes to do all of the skills needed -_-;;

-hand washing

-weight of a resident

-putting teds on

-nail care

-ROM

before I started the lady told me not to forget to put the residents shoes on when going to weight the resident...what did I do? I forgot to put their shoes on. I still passed first time though...took it about a year and a half ago.

Specializes in Sec/Tech.

Handwashing, Partial Bed Bath, Feed the Patient, Measure Urinary Output, Put on PPE From what I remember my partner had: Handwashing, Count Respirations, Knee and Ankle RoM, Female Peri Care, and I can't remember...maybe ambulation or transfer to a wheelchair but I want to say it was something that did not involve me...

I took my NY state board a couple of days ago. Happy to say I passed! My skills were Handwashing, Indirect Care, Pulse, Foot Care, and Side-lying position. Super easy!!!! Good luck to all taking the test!

Specializes in ER, Med-surg.

First time, I failed btw :sniff: I had range of motion, empty urinary drainage bag, and pericare on a female with an indwelling catheter. I was trained in Tennessee and challenged the test in Florida, in my training I never encountered the last two skills.

Second time I had super easy skills. Transfer from bed to chair, ambulate ten steps, and weight patient. Super easy, I passed with flying colors. The girl who was testing with me had bed pan, transfer from wheelchair to bed, and blood pressure. My arm was numb for a half hour after the test. She retried blood pressure three times on the same arm, needless to say, she failed.

I believe I had radial pulse, ROM for shoulder/arm, and making an occupied bed.

In WI, we also had the 70 question test where only 60 were weighted and ten were questions to gauge answers for future tests.

In Georgia we have a written test and preform 5 skills.

1) A Measurement (For me it was BP)

2) Hand washing (everyone has this)

3) Occupied Bed-Making

4) Peri-Care

5) Foot care

3-5 are randomly drawn.

I had: weight, transfer to wheelchair using gait belt, fingernail care, range of motion (leg and foot) and of course hand washing.

In this order

1. Wash hands

2. Feed resident

3. Change position

4. Weight

5. Put on a tedhose (the hardest for me since I broke a nail the day before)

5) feeding a client
