Are all CNAs mean
I just started a job at a LTC facility and all the CNA's are ****** and rude with down right nasty attitudes. They rolled their eyes when they asked me if I ever worked as a CNA before and I said I was a brand new CNA. I have been running around all week, answering their call bells, doing all the dirty work and they still act like they hate me...one girl especially!! This person is probably about 20 or more years YOUNGER than me and she talks to me like I am a teenager with her snide comments. I know I look young....but I don't know who she thinks she's talking to...or about, as I could run circles around her! Another CNA told me that she does not mean anything by it...its just her personality. I don't know if I will keep this job....if you can't stand the people you work with and they make you feel like less of a person than it's not for me. Their loss!

Any CNAs who don't plan on going for LPN?
I am not continuing on to be a LPN or RN. It's just not even a thought really. I just became a CNA and started my first job at a ltc last week. I have 2 kids and a ft job and this is all I can handle!! :)

CNA training online??
I don't really know how that would work since you need clinical hours. I think an actual class is the way to go...you need that clinical hands on work.

Gossip in the work place!
If you think it would be easy to get switched weekends-do that!! Then you won't have to deal with them...although eventually they will need your help and then they will be over their attitudes. I feel for ya!! I am hoping when I start my job next week I won't encounter this too...(laughing...yea-right!!)

Gossip in the work place!
My advise to Indiana is to just ignore the comments you have heard or been told. You have proven that you know your job, your willing to learn more, and your a team player who will cover for another. In time the rest won't matter. Good luck!!:)

Things we think that we do not say... humorous...
While I was doing my clinical for school there was this one resident fella who everyone loved. He was upbeat and with it..and when everyone was nervous about everything...his room was the one to go into and chat since he was so lively!! One day my class partner and I (both female) went into his room and said "good morning, how are you today??" He goes "ohhh just taking a ****..." and pulls the covers back to show us he's peeing into the urinal. It was so funny because he was so upfront...didn't try to hide it and could care less. Then he asked my class partner to hop into bed with him!!! She declined with "I'm married!" and he said "so what...so am I!!!" Just thinking about him makes me giggle...sweet man!!!

What kind of shoes do you wear for work?
I am starting my first CNA position in a week and just wondered what type of shoes seasoned CNA's have used, or do use? I bought Reebok sneakers for training, but wasn't on my feet for 8 hours at a time, so I don't know how they will be. I am in love with the Cherokee Anywear Nursing clogs...but don't know if I will love them wearing them 8 hours!! They have great reviews on the places I have looked online though. Opinions please. Thanks!!:):thankya:

What skills did YOU get at the CNA state exam?
I had: weight, transfer to wheelchair using gait belt, fingernail care, range of motion (leg and foot) and of course hand washing.

Is it impossible to find a full time position at LTC??
Everywhere that I have gone tells me they have part time and I can go on a waiting list!! I wonder if this "waiting list" even exists....I need benefits!!!

Guess what i saw today??!

Do any CNA's here work 11-7 in LTC
I am considering working nights 11-7 and wanted some advice before I make the decision. I do have 2 children (9 & 13) so when it's not summer they would be in school during the day. I am just wondering if you like nights, if your life is out of control because of it, and if you feel tired always?? I think I could do it...I have no trouble sleeping during the day!! This would be such a benefit to my kids, since they would not have to go to day care...which at their ages is not something they like, however, I don't want to cause issues in my marriage with me being cranky and tired all the time. Would love to hear any advice...thanks!
