Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.
C'mon now!
Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.
C'mon now!
The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.
All together: C'mon now!!
Some things just make me shake my head.
This is a mix of C'mon and kinda adorable.
I had a kinder fall at recess, and immediately told the teacher he was going to throw up. He came to my office looking straight at the ceiling while holding a trash can.
Poor guy is terrified of blood.
The second the bandaid was on and I promised it was safe to look, he looked down quickly, smiled and ran back to class.
The fun part for me was getting a call from my hypochondriac front office staff because they saw this guy going back and forth from my office with a trash can (the universal sign of vomit)

Ugh...I really dislike that. I know this is a quasi public forum, but when stuff gets put on FB, the potential for people not understandiong our weird sense of humor can turn ugly quickly!!!
I feel like, as a specialty we are very much isolated and this IS our nursing station!!! I would prefer not to see our posts on FB
I have had a cough for the past two weeks, and even though it sounds bad, I actually don't feel awful.
Today I had two teachers come in to tell me how they are concerned and how I "need to go get some antibiotics" because any cold that lasts "over a few days is bacterial".
I tried to explain that most colds are actually viral and can take 10-14 days to clear but then one said "well that's what you're supposed to say".
C'mon now

LOL!!!! Common sense people.......
I had a student come to me a few years ago because she had a tiny (1mm) hole on the top back of her pants. Really, you needed a magnifying class to even see it. Teacher requested she get new pants. She came down 2 minutes before dismissal. All I did was untuck her shirt and pull it over the hole and tell her "have a good afternoon." If I would have gone (across the building) to where extra uniforms are kept, kid would have missed her bus.
I have had the same (rather chubby) first grader come in every day this year so I can button and/or unbutton his pants. He never has a nurse pass so I assumed he was leaving the classroom to use the bathroom and not being able to button his own pants, just going to the nearest adult to problem-solve for him.
After his FOURTH visit today, I asked if he was asking anyone else to button his pants. "Yes, but the teacher told me to come to the nurse".
WHY is buttoning/unbuttoning pants a nursing intervention???

This would burn me up. I'd call up the teacher and say, "you can unbutton and button from now on." Ugh.
I just had a student come into my office and ask for a mint.
The reason: "Another student farted in my mouth."
Well, okay. Sure, kiddo, you can have that mint.
(Turns out she was bending down putting a computer into a computer cart and the other student was standing next to her and she turned and the timing was...unfortunate.)

What happens when a 3rd grader sticks his finger into an electric pencil sharpener? If your guess is it "sharpens" it until he realizes it's painful and pulls out you are correct.
