Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

I should add, I did do an assessment on him, just to be sure we didn't have a little something, something going on, but alas, that assessment found everything to be completely normal and the sleepiness was the direct result of a late night of video games.

Ug! I had a teacher call me about a student (and send him to me several times) who was falling asleep in her class. I assessed him and he said (with a smirk) he was up until 2am playing video games. She was none too happy when I sent him back. I tried to explain that it is a discipline issue from there. Sure enough, I saw him with an administrator 10 minutes later- with the same smirk on his face. I know this teacher was super frustrated by a student who is so smug and disrespectful but I didn't need her to disrespect my position on top of it.

We have a brand new substitute teacher who frequently stops by to tell me how to do my job. You know, how I should or shouldn't send a student home or should just let him rest on a cot, etc. She lets me know he has allergies which is causing his cough and he also has anxiety issues...blah, blah blah.

I really need to learn her name so I don't have to say, "Hey, what's-your-face, stop telling me how to do my job."

C'mon now.

I am up to my ears in eyes!!!! Itchy eyes, poked with pencil eyes, my teacher says I have pink eye, the tip of the pencil broke off and flew in my eye. CALGON.TAKE.ME. AWAY

C'mon NOW!!! Pollen counts, please go down!!

I have a student's family who is trying to get us and our middle school to remove all of the carpet in the building because her son has such "severe allergies" and "has developed asthma" because of my school. He is "only well in the summer". Dad is an MD they somehow got a doctors note to back up this request that we "legally have to provide".

He has been seen 4 times this year total in the nurses office, none for allergies or asthma...

C'mon now

Just wow!!!Then, when carpet is removed I am sure they will think of something else that snowflake will need, his own personal sauna and spa bathroom or something.

UGH. Do he even have multiple sick absences? I'm guessing not...

Side story: I actually asked our school to remove the carpet in the two classrooms that still had it, but that was because of a student with severe asthma, continued symptoms in the carpeted classroom, and multiple absences (including 3 hospital stays) due to asthma. But, I requested, not the parent. Parent and student were appreciative, though.

Nope, he doesn't miss school.

I would COMPLETELY get it if he was having problems here...but this came out of no where to me and the staff.

Mom brought in sick kiddo yesterday, had a fever and threw up this morning "but I gave her tylenol so now she's fine". Um, no.

Called this morning to tell me she took her to the ER last night and she has influenza a, and could I please "have them spray or something in the room because I would hate for other kids to get it".

Why does the general public think that Tylenol is a CURE instead of just a treatment for symptoms?! Even my staff comes in reporting that they felt awful during the night, but took a tyelnol this morning so they should be fine.

Bah!

Had the same exact thing happen this morning...poor little girl looked miserable. Mom asked for a temperature check "because she was so hot yesterday and was throwing up.". The child proceeded to vomit as I was giving my 24-hr fever-free/vomit-free spiel :barf02:

Parent of two new KN (started last week) came in this morning angry because his kids have been given pears (they are allergic) two days in a row. "what do I have TO DO to make sure they aren't given pears?!"

I check my files--no medical records. In my mailbox are their emergency cards he filled out yesterday afternoon, after I left for the day. Only one of them mentions a pear allergy.

Um, telling someone about the allergy would be a good way to help avoid the allergen? Just an idea.
