I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!
I posted earlier but here's everything LOL. I am 36 yr old mother of 2 (16&11) and my husband has been in the Army 19 1/2 yrs. i have a question: I have taken (and PASSED) both A&P 1 & 2. I am finishing my last pre-req (biology- because I took a refresher math course) this summer. I have also completed everything NON Nursing in the program (comp1, intro to nursing, pharmacology, lifespan, psych, fine arts and speech). Is bio going to be SUPER HARD or will it be a little easier since I have gone a little backwards and taken both A&P's?
I would say much easier!!!!! Ive had all of them, so your A and P gives u a head start.
Your story is really inspirational. I wish you the best on your journey to becoming a nurse! Is the cost difference between the BSN and MSN very different? I figured I could get more financial aid for a graduate degree vs a 2nd bachelors. Just something to keep in mind. :)
I thought that you are not eligible for financial aid if you already have a bachelors?
So glad to see I am not alone!! I am 43, going for LPN as my second career. I already have BS degree. I missed the cut off for my local LPN program so I am starting in August to be a CNA. I just got accepted today to be a volunteer at a local hospital...they assigned me the ICU so I am super excited! The hospital said this will help me and I can learn a lot from the staff in ICU. Good luck to everyone!!
Awesome!! I'm a very non-traditional student as well. Started pre-reqs at 48, just turned 50...and anxiously waiting to find out (hopefully tomorrow!) if I'm accepted into the nursing program I applied to. All of my children are grown and I am a proud "Nanny" to 3 beautiful young grandchildren. :)
Happy to have found this thread...I've not encountered one rude age-related comment or look since I've returned to school but it is nice to know I'm not alone!
