I heard about 6 hours. I still haven't been able to get it to run properly. What did you think of our first day?

St pete college fall 2013
-Are recorders very helpful? -How are the care plans and/or any papers/reports we have to do? -Is there a microwave in the cafeteria area to warm your own lunch? (kinda silly... don't know why it is on my mind) -Do we have to pay extra to take the ATI? -Are the tests essay, multiple choice or a mix? -Do we get to pick our teachers at orientation or are they selected for us? -How do they determine who gets days/nights (what if they run out of day slots)? I just have so many questions!! * I'm not in the program yet but I do record lectures for studying. 75 % of the time I find it helpful, problem is if you have a teacher who gets off topic and easily distracted. In those cases I don't bother. It helped me a lot with micro. * I think there will be a lot of care plans. Care plans are just part of nursing school, we will all be sick of them. Some instructors are pickier than others on care plan grading. * There is a microwave in the cafeteria area. * I think test are mostly multiple choice but they incorporate 10-15 math questions on every test so not sure if those are multiple choice. * I think you tell them your teacher preference at orientation and they notify you later on who they placed you with.

Does anyone know if SPC has an ebook option for nursing? If so is it cheaper?

St pete college fall 2013
I will be working. I'm not sure how many hours yet d/t the fact that we don't have our class schedules. The kind of work is nursing (LPN). Though I need to work, school is priority so if I found my grades dropping d/t work I would have to cut back hours. I would make the correction if I found myself not having enough study time outside class to cover material.

I Know This Annoying but....
I went the LPN route. If you want to work in a hospital I would go with CNA, to get your foot in the door at the hospital and experience. When I graduated from my LPN program they changed policies and stopped hiring LPNs at hospitals in my area. They always need CNAs and PCTs at hospitals. If you are interested in another area such as home health or psych nursing than I would go with LPN. Hope that helps. I had the same questions before I started school.

Waiting time..what did you do?
I am working and saving $ to pay for school cost. I'm also trying to spend time with friends and family because I don't anticipate much time for socializing once the program starts.

Fulltime Nurse and Fulltime Student?
In the same boat. I absolutely love the doctors I work with. I'm applying for the fall and if I get in I will just have to see how it goes. They knew when they hired me that I would be going to RN school. If they will work with my school schedule and I can keep my grades up I'm gonna try to do both. How have you done so far with juggling work and pre reqs? I wouldn't give up a job you love unless you absolutely have to. Good Luck.

Students who are enrolled/graduated from Elmhurst Deicke Center for Nursing Education
The college nursing programs in my area are competitive. If a person has a GPA below 3.8 it is not likely they will get accepted and some places they wouldn't even make the waiting list. There is just so many people wanting to be nurses now. If you have all of your support courses done in addition to the pre reqs, it will help your chances. There are private nursing schools that you can get in if you are willing to pay 2-3 times the tuition, and don't care about your credits not transferring, but I wouldn't recommend it.

A&P 1 what would you do?
How competitive is the nursing program at your school? How is your overall GPA?
