30+ club! Lets do this together.

I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!

Im 36 with a 1 1/2 year old!! I have my degree in animal science ( I am an animal nurse:) ). Some of my pre reqs transferred. I am taking bio and chem over again in the summer to pass the hesi exam. Next week I start human development. Hoping to get into nursing school next year! I just hope I make it!!

I worked with an RN in a military base who was a vet tech & she is the blood draw master!! She says its because she did animals and they are harder lol

Okay I had a little freak out today over school, and I think you all might understand. I have no clue how I am going to pull this off in the fall. My oldest son, 10, will be starting competitive soccer in the fall and my other son, 8, plays as well. I will not make them miss this because it is their passion; I am lucky my neighbor's son plays on my younger son's team and says she can help out. My husband tells me we will work it out, but I just have no idea how. Maybe a babysitter after school who can drive them to soccer during the quarters I have a late class. My husband says it is just 21 months and I can make it, but right now it just seems like a big obstacle. Plus, I will have to find someone to come let my dogs out (3 Boxers) so they are not in their kennels all day. I guess right now I am having a huge glass-empty moment. If anyone can tell me how they got through this with family/kids/pets, I would love to hear!!!![/quote']

I am waiting for my acceptance letter to the fall. I have 3 kids, all 3 play club soccer, have a trainer, one is in the school band & 1 that plays school football. I figured out that some how when the time comes we find a way to get things done & we will!!

I will be 44 this June

Became a LPN at 39

Will be a RN at 45

I will be 45 this June (so a year older than Kimynurse). I'm a "career evolver" (rather than a career-changer, per se, I think). I will be an LPN at 46, and an RN at the ripe old age of 48... but my life is not on hold until that happens.

I have a Liberal Arts undergrad degree and two masters degrees (M.Ed. Adult Education and M.S. Wellness Management).

I'm a widow and an empty-nest mom. :)

Loving this thread. 31 y/o married mom of 2 daughters (20 mos and 9 years). Taking A&P 1, Nutrition and Wr 122 currently. Still need A&P II and III, Microbiology and Math 90. Will be applying Fall 2014 for the Fall 2015 program at MHCC.

@MakingitRealty

Thank you for the encouragement!

Fortunantely I'm not starting from scratch I've been going to school off and on since I graduate high school :woot: awhile ago haha! So I'm not to discouraged. I'm the same way I watched my sister muster through every semester of school without fail and finally graduate and then get accepted into her dream bachelor's program and she looks at me while we are sitting at her celebration dinner and says when are you going to finish? You need to go back to school and become a nurse like you want to be quit putting it on hold geez! (needless to say she didn't hold anything back she just let me have it! Gotta love her because I know she meant well) :)

All these youngsters in this thread! Lol. I am 51 and start my program (asn) in august. It took about 1 1/2 years to do all my pre reqs, including a few that will apply to the BSN I hope to get upon finishing my RN. My kids are grown, my wife is super supportive, let the games begin! Good luck to all!

Hello to all! Loving this thread! I'm a 40 yr old mom of 3. My oldest (21) is actually going to the same college. I've taken all of my pre reqs, except micro & a&p 2. Praying, hoping, crossing fingers & toes that I get accepted! A little concerned considering other applicants' accomplishments. But I did place "advanced" on the TEAS-V & have a 3.76 gpa. Just concerned it won't be enough... Hopefully we hear about acceptance by next week, but unsure. The wait is torture!

Congratulations & good luck to you all! :-)

Just turned 40, two elementary children and a hubby who's work requires him to be away often. I'm a second career seeker and will apply to BSN program this Feb. for fall the 2014 program. In summer school now taking Wellness and Speech. Then 7 more required courses before starting program. Will graduate in 2016. We can do it... Keep your eye on the prize!

Hey there! I'm two months shy of 30 and working on my pre-reqs. Hoping to get into an ABSN program starting next summer/fall. OP, based on what you said about English 101 being 1 of 4 pre-reqs, I think we may be taking our pre-reqs together...

High-fives for all the geezers out there! ;)

I have a BS in Information and Computer Science, but decided to be an RN after 11 years of being a stay-at-home mom to our 10-year-old 5th grader and to our 6-year-old 1st grader.

My super supportive husband helped with the chores and the kids while I did my core classes as a pre-nursing student at 35. Now at 37 and after being waitlisted twice, I finally got accepted into the ASN program last week! :-) :-) :-) I'm excited to be an RN in 2 years, then bridge into the RN-BSN program while working.

I don't know... biologically, I'm 37 but in my heart I still feel 27! :-) :-) :-)

Hi all, I'm a 32 year guy finally about to start the BSN program this fall for a Fall '15 graduation date. I currently work as a mental health technician for the State of IL, but I'm going to take an educational leave, because as you all have heard or are learning, it's damn near impossible to work FT while in the program.

I'm so glad to be done with all the pre-reqs and taking classes with freshmen. It's awkward enough feeling like the creepy older dude, but from what I hear, most of the immature students have been filtered out by junior year. Kinda looking forward to August!

Well nice meeting you fellow kids of the 70s and 80s, and good luck!
