I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!

Hey everyone! I'm turning 35 in a couple of weeks and I'm married with three kids, ages 11, 8, and 6. This is my first time in college and I'll be finished with my prereqs this fall so I can apply for my program in the Spring and I'm hoping I am admitted for a Fall start. I'm taking A&P 1 and 2 over the summer and I'm really enjoying it so far. Oh, and lastly, I'm in the Central Florida area. I'm so happy to hear from other people my age, I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone.

I completely agree. I take my classes very seriously now and I know that if I had gone to school earlier in life, I would not be as focused as I am now.

I'm 32 with a Masters degree in Anthropology. I studied healthcare as a social scientist and realized I want to be IN healthcare, not just studying it! Decided to ditch the PhD track and start taking nursing prereqs. This is a plan that I've tried to hatch many times in the last 5 years but just never had the guts until now. I'm trying to do as much research and career planning as I can while I do these prereqs and apply for an Accelerated BSN program in my city.

So glad to have found you all.

I will be turning 31 in August, so that makes me a baby in this thread, but I'm older than nearly all the other students in my pre-req courses. I was indecisive/wild/adventurous/immature when I was younger and moved to Asia (just because I could) after getting a BA in English. I worked in Japan, Southeast Asia and India over the course of three years. I finally returned to the States to get my MA in International Relations with a focus in global health, but didn't like any of the internships I did while finishing up my degree. I will complete my pre-req courses this fall in time to start nursing school in fall 2014. I'm going for master's program. All I got left is stats and microbiology. I've been volunteering in a nursing unit for 8 months, but I'm also doing a CNA program over the summer.

I just hope the schools give me a chance. I've got excellent grades and a unique background, but my work history is all over the damn place. I'm going to look like I can't make up my mind about anything, but really who makes their BEST decisions when they're young? Only within the past few years have I come into my own and become the sort of person who really will make a good nurse.

Hello everyone!! Im 37 years old and have been married almost 17 yrs. I have 4 children, ranging in age from 11-20, the oldest is out of the house living on his own, the other 3 stay home with me everyday since we homeschool. I am a full time student, finishing up my last 3 pre-reqs in this summer block then I will apply for my schools nursing program in September. :) I have been a busy bee for the last year, but I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Whew! Im glad someone thought to start a chat for us over 30's, we need all the support we can get. :) Looking forward to following this and getting to know everyone.

Okay, I had a little freak out today over school, and I think you all might understand. I have no clue how I am going to pull this off in the fall. My oldest son, 10, will be starting competitive soccer in the fall and my other son, 8, plays as well. I will not make them miss this because it is their passion; I am lucky my neighbor's son plays on my younger son's team and says she can help out. My husband tells me we will work it out, but I just have no idea how. Maybe a babysitter after school who can drive them to soccer during the quarters I have a late class. My husband says it is just 21 months and I can make it, but right now it just seems like a big obstacle. Plus, I will have to find someone to come let my dogs out (3 Boxers) so they are not in their kennels all day. I guess right now I am having a huge glass-empty moment. If anyone can tell me how they got through this with family/kids/pets, I would love to hear!!!!

My mom was 38 when she started taking her prereqs; I just finished mine at 30 and got accepted to a nursing program for the fall!

As for English, it is definitely not for everyone! And it's such a subjective subject that there is a huge difference between good professors and bad ones... I wrote one paper for two classes (Not recommended!) I got an A in one and a C in the other! In my experience, sucking up goes a long way :)

I love how you're in this one too Shye! Also love the comment (Not recommended) lol! As always... hilarious.

Hi everyone! I'm 33 and also recently got accepted to an ADN program :)

I think as older students with multiple responsibilities we all have obstacles like this. In the past, something like this would have made me quit. But I am older now and more motivated. You will get past this obstacle. Don't make somethng like this make you give up. Use your resources, it will work out! My oldest son will be training for freshmen football this summer, and I will have classes all day long, so I have to rely on my husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law to help out with taking him to practices. I hate having to put my responsibilities on someone else, but they understand how important school is. Like your husband said, it is just 21 months of your life. When you look back it will seem like nothing. Stay motivated and good luck!!

I am so happy that I am not alone in getting everything done! I guess if we have to hire a nanny (my mom will not help as she is not comfortable driving into the city, and my MIL already watches her other grandchildren), then that is what we have to do (plus to watch the kids on their half days and time off school as well). I also get two weeks off between quarters, so really I just have to take it 10 weeks at a time and see if I have scheduling conflicts. My kids have written papers about me going to school, and they like to tell their teachers their mom is going to become a nurse. I guess I need to stop borrowing trouble and take things as they come!

I'm turning 32 in first week of June.:inlove: I'm married with one child (9 years old). I have two more semesters to finish my prerequisites (biology, AP, and microbiology).

English is my fourth language. This language has been challenging my college life and particularly my patience. Occasionally, I used to think of just quitting because I felt that I wasted time. I spent three years of my life in prerequisite classes for English 101. Anyway, I passed English 101 with B. Probably, I could do better if I didn't take it with anthropology and communication classes. I had these disciplines in summer session. It was fast and furious. I passed them with decent grades. In spring 2013, I ace English 102. FYI, I'm taking this class because of my Liberal Arts major. Anyway, it's really depends on your schedule, circumstances, etc.

As the posters have said, it's really what's going on in our lives and how we handle obstacles. Sometimes, we can't just switch off some things like we can do to all switches(on/off).
