I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!
I posted earlier but here's everything LOL. I am 36 yr old mother of 2 (16&11) and my husband has been in the Army 19 1/2 yrs. i have a question: I have taken (and PASSED) both A&P 1 & 2. I am finishing my last pre-req (biology- because I took a refresher math course) this summer. I have also completed everything NON Nursing in the program (comp1, intro to nursing, pharmacology, lifespan, psych, fine arts and speech). Is bio going to be SUPER HARD or will it be a little easier since I have gone a little backwards and taken both A&P's?
I would like to congratulate all of my younger cohorts! To TxGirl1982 it is never too late. I will start my last two semesters this August in a BSN program at the age of 59 and will graduate in May, 2014 at the age of 60. I also have a previous degree and considered the MSN option, but since my wife had retired from a large college I could qualify for a substantial discount on a Bachelor's program, so went for that. I am an EMT and was actually considering a Paramedic program and switched after acceptance to Nursing. I have worked part time as a Flex NA for a large hospital in Northeastern PA and will be doing an Externship there this summer. Best of luck to all![/quote']That is so awesome.
I am 33 I have four children(13,10,6, and 4) I still have sociology, nutrition,Gen bio, which I am taking in the fall and I also have general chem, micro, A&P I and II left to take. I have been taking courses over a quite of few years. But now since my youngest will be in school full time I can focus on school a little more.
It sounds like we have alot in common! My kids are 14, 9, 6, and 4. My youngest will be starting school full time in the fall as well, so I am going to finish up my pre-reqs in the fall semester and apply for the nursing program in the spring :)! Good luck!!
I to like this idea, I am finishing some classes I have taken all my pre reaq's and applied to the nursing program but I was not accepted
But I am applying to 2 other schools and one Lon program so hopefully I will get in somewhere. I will be 33 in 3 weeks and would love to have something to look forward too.
I do have one question who else thinks this point system is ridiculous I don't think they can tell a good nurse based on grades some people have a hard time taking test and just because you get all A's doesn't mean you will have good bedside manners. Please tell me I am not the only one that feels this way

I totally feel this way too!! The school I am applying to in Spring doesn't use the point system, but they will be starting to in Fall 2014. That is why I am busting my butt to finish my pre-reqs so I can apply in Spring! I don't want to have to do the point system. I calculated my points, and I only would have like 70-75. I know I wouldn't get in with the point system. It scares me!
I love this thread! I am 49 years old and will be 50 when I graduate with my BSN. I am taking my last prerequisite this summer and start nursing school in the fall. My husband and I have two children-both students at Texas A&M. I have always wanted to be a nurse and I am so thankful for this opportunity in my life. It's comforting to know that there are other "nontraditional" students pursuing their dream. Congratulations to you all!
I'll be turning 30 in November with one almost 3 year old daughter. I just moved to the States from Germany (I am German) because I'm married to a US-soldier for over 4 years. I just got my GED and am in the middle of studying for the TEAS to hopefully be accepted in the local LPN program. I do plan to go for RN afterwards but figured with LPN I can start working faster and then do the pre-reqs for RN later (if I even have to).
