  1. I know it's competitive and the selection of candidates is pretty rough here. Some people I know already gave up which is difficult to ignore. I don't have t be the same way. All I can do is study hard and take the long way. I know I will get there
  2. Thank you and I appreciate your feedback, guys.
  3. My perspective has changed when I learned that it's not easy to get in nursing program. I don't have any medical (hospital) experiences, so I concluded that I have to start as a nursing assistant student to get my foot in the door. Where I study, LPN or ADN program is very very picky. It counts everything such as experience, GPA, volunteer hours, etc. I have done many general education courses with good grades, but I don't think that I'm good enough to get in. To be more specific, the general education courses I accumulated are also nursing prerequisites. Anyway, my college's NCLEX passing rate is excellent. My question is: Is it a lot easier to get in LPN or ADN program once I'm CNA with a few months work experience?
  4. I don't know where to place myself, but everybody deserves salary. I grew up in a country where many professionals have been treated **** whether government or non-government workers. Many of our graduates work in abroad. It's so sad how some people grind each other. I assumed you're an American. Historically, many laborers were abused by some employers. It didn't start like today. Don't get me wrong, I also understand your main point and rumination on union organization. Yes, I am aware that some people are abusive because of power they hold. Well, they should be forced to leave when they're proven guilty. Union members should never allow this behavior. I'm against to be a union member because I have to pay and some union people make too much money they don't deserved. Other than that, I understood the mission. If one person abuses his/her position, the union org. should stricken off the person from the union. That should alarm everybody and less headache for union organizers. Yes, there are some people who take advantage of unions, but I'm not envying them. We all should help each other and no one should feel resentment. I hope that someday people will be more evolved than today.

I keep that in mind, but it doesn't bother me and I'm not a flirty person(since I married my bf). However, I'm not a nurse, but a pre-nursing student.
  6. I'm turning 32 in first week of June. I'm married with one child (9 years old). My husband is employed and he has a private practice. If I do well through science classes, I only have two semesters left to complete my prerequisites (biology, AP, and microbiology). English is my fourth language. This language has been challenging my college life and particularly my patience. Occasionally, I used to think of just quitting because I felt that I wasted time. I spent three years of my life in prerequisite classes for English 101. Anyway, I passed English 101 with B. Probably, I could do better if I didn't take it with anthropology and communication classes. I had these disciplines in summer session. It was fast and furious. I passed them with decent grades. In spring 2013, I ace English 102. FYI, I'm taking this class because of my Liberal Arts major. Anyway, it's really depends on your schedule, circumstances, etc. As the posters have said, it's really what's going on in our lives and how we handle obstacles. Sometimes, we can't just switch off some things like we can do to all switches(on/off).
  7. I'm turning 32 in first week of June. I'm married with one child (9 years old). I have two more semesters to finish my prerequisites (biology, AP, and microbiology).
  8. Ckmom21, We have in common. I'm questioning my ability.
  9. Congratulations!!! What are you going to do on your license's celebration?
  10. As a nursing student, I'm afraid of not being enough to my instructors. Also, I fear I will fail. That bothers me a lot. I wish I could do something how to make my performance better and not disappointing my trainers.
  11. I just think of poop as mashed potatoes, apple sauces, blended steaks, etc.
  12. I always wanted to be a doctor when I was a young kid. Unfortunately, I was unable to get in medical schools because of financial issues as I had trouble finishing my high school. My mother died when I was 9 years old and my father abandoned me. However, I graduated in high school at age 18. I could graduate as early as age 14 or age 15. Anyway, for some reason, being a doctor was dead in my mind. After two years later, I got in a computer science major. Still, I was unsuccessful in this discipline. I was running out of money again. I stopped and saved some more money to finish the whole term. Well, I didn't graduate. I barely finished two semesters in college. To cut a long story short, somebody offered me a scholarship to get in nursing schools. Many of people around me told me that I just winded up cleaning butts, so I didn't think twice to reject that offer. I was grossed and disappointed that wiping butts shouldn't require me to kill myself in studying biology classes and beyond. Nowadays, I regret for not accepting that offer. I resented myself for ignoring my own voice , but to people's opinion who had no knowledge how actually nurses work. If I could turn the clock back, I'd take nursing school and then to become a nurse practitioner. When I realized I do want to be a nurse(replacement of my dream), I'm way more motivated than before. Nowadays, I read a lot of sciences to catch up... I feel like I'm a new student. :) My input, do things that you want, not what people say/think about things in their physical environment. When we are younger, we tend to gross out easily. That's typical for most young people. I was one of these people.
  13. When do I get an interview? Is it prior to a TEAS exam? I did speak to a counselor. He gave me a sheet that list everything I needed for the program with his signature in it.
  14. My college has LPN to RN program. Is it wise to get in a LPN program while taking my prerequisites? I'm done with most of my prerequisites except biology and microbiology classes. I already earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. Btw., during my orientation, the speaker said that CNA, LPN, or LVN gets a credit when they apply in nursing program. Now, I'm thinking that applicants who already have knowledge in caring of patient(s) can get in faster than me. I have experienced in workforce (medical billing, cashier, purchasing, food server,) and taking care of my kid. That's all I have. I greatly appreciate your input.
  15. I'm 31 and I have been away from school for about ten years. I'm still taking pre-nursing classes, but I'm almost done with my Liberal Arts. I was so stressed out because I should have been working already like most of my high school classmates. In the end, I have never regret to be in college at my age. I feel like I'm 18 again. I have been enjoying my class.
