Who here has experience as a clinical resource nurse? Pros? Cons?

Can you share the job description?

Specializes in Dialysis.

please share job description. Job titles and descriptions vary by facility and geographic area

Well I know the nurse in Tennessee being prosecuted was a resource nurse - so since the description varies - it would be hard to share experiences.

Hppy

Specializes in PCU, ONS, CM.

Sorry y’all, here is the description:

This position develops and implements programs to enhance the overall skills of associates that provide bedside nursing care to the patient. The Clinical Resource Nurse works very closely with interdisciplinary teams to identify areas for improvement in patient care. The overall goal of the CRN is to facilitate the development of nursing staff that render care at the bedside.

Specializes in Surgical, quality,management.

How is this different to a clinical nurse educator?

Specializes in Critical Care.

What you're describing is what used to be called a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) which is a masters prepared nurse. It sounds like the posting is for a CNS but without the proper degree level.

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

It sounds more to me like a staff development nurse or nurse educator position. Is this in a hospital?

Yes it is

Specializes in ER.

In Dallas, that means a float pool nurse who gets paid twice more than regular staff because they are hired to float every shift. The pay is ridiculous. Not sure if that's same job as you describe though

Which means they're not wanting to pay...

Specializes in school nurse.

Also, be careful about "additional duties as assigned" on top of getting pulled to be a one-person float pool...
