What are your feelings about CNAs?

I'm assuming you mean Certified Nurse Assistants. I Googled "Clinical" just on the off chance there was something I hadn't heard about, and all the results were for "Certified".

Homework assignment?

I'd say extremely helpful 99% of the time ...but once in a while a rare individual causes more problems than they're worth.

where I work, they're more necessary than *I* am. Yes, the folks need their medicine and treatments and assessments, but the CNAs are the ones who clothe and clean and feed them. All of which come first on Maslow's hierarchy before anything I do.

I see you just joined. Welcome!

A little more info as to what you are asking would be welcome. In addition to the confusion of the "Clinical" title instead of Certified, which is what we are used to, your "Comments?" question doesn't tell us much about what you're really asking.

You mean "Certified Nurse Assistant"?

Specializes in Critical Care, Capacity/Bed Management.

Before I give my two cents let me preface this with the fact that I worked as a CNA/PCT/CCT for about 10 years before graduating nursing school.

I believe that good techs and aides are worth their weight in gold, especially on the floors (tele, med/surg, ortho, etc). They are at the bedside more often than nurses and thus are able to spot differences that they will report back to the RN.

However, working in the ICU I find that I do not like to have a tech. Maybe it's that we have had a string of bad techs come in lately but they often dont report abnormal things like a temp of 103 or a blood glucose of 275. We have thought of ways to remedy this but unfortunately it continues to happen. I will say the one thing I cannot do without is a secretary. I am so unfortunate to work with some amazing secretaries who go above and beyond to help me and the other nurses, whether it's sorting through orders or running to blood bank.
