Classmate told on me on clinical about what I was doing, I was put on probation *sob*

:crying2: :crying2: Yesterday, I asked a classmate to help me out during our clinicals. I needed help turning a patient because he could not move at all in bed. Then the next thing I know, my classmate turned me in saying to the instructor that I did not know what I was doing. :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I know what I was doing, I just needed help on positioning a patient. It is my first semester and I am learning. If I knew she was going to do that, I would not asked her for help. I thought I could trust her. I did not know that I was going to get told on.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Then the instructor acted really mean to me and said that I did not know what I was doing and was put on probation.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Why do classmates do this? Don't classmates suppose to help each other out or is it all back stabbing and war going on. Why did she do it? The patient was not in danger...Just to warn you, there are a lot of evil people out in the world, who would just back stab a person to get ahead. I do not know what her intentions were, but she was out to get me...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:Anyway, I dared not to confront her, because she would tell on me again for asking the question on why I was turned in, then I would be out of the nursing program for sure..People are so cruel...I do not trust any of my classmates now, they will tell on a student...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I dare not to ask questions from students, because they will tell that I am incompetent....:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

So, I suppose anyone who will not allow you to feel sorry for yourself and does not think along the same lines as you is negative and against you? There are tons of ppl here trying to give some very sound advice and you are turning a blind eye to it. I wouldn't say everyone is against you. No ma'am, it's the exact opposite. It's YOU who is against anyone who tries to help you.

We very well could be being toyed with. Maybe they should close the thread for a while. Every bit of advice is falling on deaf ears anyway.

Is this person for real, or we all being duped? The sheer number of those :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: makes me wonder.

I don't care if I ever see that emoticon again!

I wouldn't go in to clinical or class with WAR on my mind sweetie, not only is it not good for you, its most definately not good for your patients. You have to put these thoughts aside and be the best you can be.

I don't know everything, for sure. I have no nursing experience but I'm making A's and all checked off on clinicals and I do ask for help, from friends, teachers, nurses, etc. The thing is never stop trusting people. If you feel you were truly wronged and the patient was not unsafe, then talk with the instructor, but if you think you would have done the same thing as the other student, then talk with yourself. Either way, you can' tlet one thing hold you back - I just jump in and do what I've been taught to do, ask questions where needed and refer to my notes. Anythign abnormal, I report, regardless of how silly it may seem. I'd rather be overcautious than miss something important.

Best of luck to you, but as other posters have said - only you can change this - only you can respond by being positive and moving on in your positive career or you can respond negatively and choose to never trust anyone again. It is your decision.

:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: You see I was right, the people who posted negative things about me, would probably do some evil things in real life....The world is very cold...This post reflects that and I should not trust my classmates...A lot of people told me to quit school because I am not competetent. Some people said that they want to do me in because I am not the same race and so on..Other people told me that I am just crazy:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: These people who said those things, are nursing students also....So yes, I am right...I should watch my back at all times and not trust people..If you think I should not do that, look at this whole thread and see what you think about human interactions....:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I am very bummed out now...There is an exam and a long term paper due on Monday..My focus is very shot...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: The girl who told on me, acted like nothing happened on that day and she was laughing and smiling and talking to people...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Now look at me? Who is right and who is wrong..You can say that she did the right thing and I was wrong...Well, so everytime I talk to people now, I have to watch what I say and do..Because classmates will inform the instructor...Like for example, suppose I had a conversation with a student on how I disliked the hospital and then that conversation would be reported to the instructor...Do you see my thinking??:crying2: :crying2:

OK SAD, now you have just made me mad...either you are a complete phony with nothing but time on your hands to bs on the computer or you are a total dramamamma!! For some body that has a test and a paper due on Monday and already on probation you should be busy studying and writing and not being a pessimistic crybaby on an adult nursing website that tries to encourage and support the ART and PROFESSIONALISM of nursing..we have tried to encourage you to search your heart and be truthful with yourself over your mistakes but you refuse to accept advice ..this will be my last post to you..grow up, suck it up and 'fess up..........there is no room in patient care time for dramamammas.....

I don't see the thinking either.

The "she told on me" thing is getting old. My kids "tell" on each other. Adults don't "tell".

Do you not understand that your classmates saw a reason to be concerned with the care you were giving, and notified the instructor of what they saw? What is wrong with that? That is how we learn. We're not dealing with overcharging someone for a jacket or sandwich, or selling the wrong size shoes to a lady - we're dealing with LIVES, and our actions can and do have very serious consequences. The schools only want to graduate students that KNOW what they are doing, that UNDERSTAND the how's and why's of what they are doing, not students who want to pick the best person to help them because that person won't "tell" when the student does something wrong or misses something. It's not a race to see who finishes first and best.

No, you did not read my other post..Three of my classmates were in the room, me, another classmate and the girl who told on me. Me and the other nursing student faced the wound and saw everything..There was a patch on the wound and we both did not think anything of it..The girl who told on me was on the other side of the bed and she just saw a little blood and thought it was an open bleeding wound..She did not see the whole picture...Anyway, the other classmate did not think anything of it like I did...That is two against one...

This post is real...I am going to study now...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

Dear Sad,

I've just had a quick look over your previous posts. You seem to be having a miserable time in nursing school. I also recall a thread from the past (please correct me if I'm wrong) where you were even feeling suicidal over nursing school -- that was you wasn't it?

The thing is sad - I see a recurring theme here. I see a person who is feeling overwhelmed, overly stressed and out-of-control with life as a whole. I suspect that it's not just nursing school making you feel this way?? What do you think?

You see, the theme goes like this:

* Something terrible happens (probation, getting written up, feel like you're failing etc....)...BUT

* That something is always someone ELSE'S fault (instructor, co-worker, teacher, nurses etc)....SO

* You write to the board telling us how cruel people are and how terrible the world is....THEN

* You get the reassurance you're looking for, but nothing really changes until next time.

I'm sorry sad - I'm not trying to be harsh. Well yes, maybe I *am* trying to be a little harsh...not because I dislike you or anything. But because I can see a person with soooooo much more potential than you are allowing yourself to have!! But to reach your full potential, you need to grow a little as a person and realise that there is ONLY ONE person in this world that you can control. And that is YOU. You can't change your instructors, your co-workers, your fellow students or ANYONE else...you can only change YOU. But I promise you that if you truly decide to change yourself for the better then the world will become a better place for you!!

Listen sad...not sure how old you are, but I think maybe you're fairly young? Let me tell you secret. We ALL have to learn this lesson in life. So don't feel bad that you have to learn it too. It's all part of growing up and growing as a person. I'm not fully grown up - I still grow a little each day. We should all try to do that.

Just take baby steps - try a new approach every day. Next time something bad happens, sit yourself down and ask yourself, "how could *I* change that situation next time??"...and when that little voice starts getting loud and saying..."But it wasn't my fault!!"...tell it to quieten down and just TRY to think of a new way to deal with the situation. OK?

For example, with the last situation you faced, how could *you* have made it different? What have you learned?? Well - you've learned that nurses must talk to each other about things like wounds. Next time if you're unsure about what to report, you could try asking someone. Is there anything you can do about the situation now?? Sure there is - you can take the time to go and see your instructor and the co-worker who reported you. Decide NOT to be defensive, but to *ask* them how you can do better next time...and listen to what they have to say. Don't try to defend yourself - try to LEARN.

My point is this - you are miserable with the way things are. So CHANGE the way things are!! Best wishes to you....and hey...when are you going to change that screen name??? You can't make positive changes in your life while still having a screen name called "sad"!! What about "positive_changes"???

For being a 37 year old, you really need to grow up and act your age. You have the mentality of the patients I just got done seeing on my psych rotation.

There are so many positive, genuine people helping eachother out, and seeking advice for others on this website...however I think you have really crossed the line in some of the statements that you have said. Hopefully, you will have realized by now that you are in need of some help, and I hope you find it.

You need to get over the other student and learn from your mistakes and move on!!

I asked the instructor on what is the main reason about the probation. He told me that it was the report made by the other classmate. :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: The patient with the wound was already there for two weeks in the hospital and I just seen him for only one day on his last day. The nurses with the licences were well aware of the wound. The patient was discharged the same day I was taking care of him. He did not die and there was no error done by me. A wound with a dressing suppose have blood. I just ran into a horrible student. She could have told me to report it to the instructor..:crying2: :crying2: The classmate probably did not like me, she probably said I was incompetent and I did not know what I was doing.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Geez, how harsh is that...I am just a student..I trusted the wrong person...But if I knew she was going to report me for asking for help, I would have stayed away from her. I do ask for assistance from other students about many things. It does not make me incompetent...I am there to learn by having practice. Well I have to take responsibilty for my actions. The error I made was asking the wrong classmate for help and letting my classmate look at my patient. The action I have to take is that I should not trust anyone.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: All my classmates are potential backstabbers.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: When I go to the clinicals next week, WAR will be on my mind. Everyone out there is out to get me.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: There would be no communication what so ever with my classmates. If i need help turning a patient, I will do it myself or ask a hospital staff member.

I was also put on probabtion in the past, but I made it through that one. This is a new one. The school wants to weed people out because it is an impacted program..:crying2: :crying2: :crying2:I am not blaming anyone on why am I on probation..I just trusted the wrong person and it was my fault.

:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: You see I was right, the people who posted negative things about me, would probably do some evil things in real life....The world is very cold...This post reflects that and I should not trust my classmates...A lot of people told me to quit school because I am not competetent. Hey, you guys, I think we are being taken for a ride. These posts reek of an attention-seeking troll.

If this person is serious, however, I think that society has a very serious situation on its hands if this person actually passes nursing school and becomes licensed to work as a nurse! I know this is just a discussion board and anyone can type anything here, but if this person is real I don't think it would be out of line to contact the school this person attends and refer them to this thread. It would terrify me to think someone like this might have my life in her hands.

that goes for me to!!!!!!:chuckle :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

I don't care if I ever see that emoticon again!
