Classmate told on me on clinical about what I was doing, I was put on probation *sob*

:crying2: :crying2: Yesterday, I asked a classmate to help me out during our clinicals. I needed help turning a patient because he could not move at all in bed. Then the next thing I know, my classmate turned me in saying to the instructor that I did not know what I was doing. :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I know what I was doing, I just needed help on positioning a patient. It is my first semester and I am learning. If I knew she was going to do that, I would not asked her for help. I thought I could trust her. I did not know that I was going to get told on.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Then the instructor acted really mean to me and said that I did not know what I was doing and was put on probation.:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Why do classmates do this? Don't classmates suppose to help each other out or is it all back stabbing and war going on. Why did she do it? The patient was not in danger...Just to warn you, there are a lot of evil people out in the world, who would just back stab a person to get ahead. I do not know what her intentions were, but she was out to get me...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:Anyway, I dared not to confront her, because she would tell on me again for asking the question on why I was turned in, then I would be out of the nursing program for sure..People are so cruel...I do not trust any of my classmates now, they will tell on a student...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I dare not to ask questions from students, because they will tell that I am incompetent....:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

Put in a formal complaint in writing, give the facts, give it to the Nursing Department head. I would not put up with that. stay clear of that classmate, what a witch. :uhoh3:

:crying2: :crying2: It is too late, the department head was the instructor who put me on probation...Just last week, the same instructor told me that I was doing very well at the clinical site...Just to tell you, how a classmate can destroy someone...I thought the classmate would help me because I asked her questions before.....:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

I would still explain myself in writing and ask how you can be put on probation based on another student's word. Is there a dean of healthcare education at your school? Keep on going up. This sounds very wrong indeed.

I'm so sorry you are in the position of not being able to utilize your peers as team members on the floor. That is ridiculous. Everyone should work together, support and trust each other.

I feel very fortunate to have such a great group of peers in my clinical rotation. I hope your experience is a one-time only event. Keep your chin up.

:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: There is more to the story. I was told in the morning the RNs with the licences would handle the dressing changes. When I turned the patient, there was a little blood on a patch where a wound was. The dressing changes suppose to be handled by the RNs and not the students. So I looked at it and I did not report it to anyone because it was a wound with a patch on it. :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: .The next thing I know that classmate said a lot to the instructor about the wound and how I did not report it..I explained it to the instructor but me and him, have personailty differences. I am there just to do the job, and me liking him, was an issue about the probation also...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I just know, that I got told on by a girl who has a big tatoo on her back..:crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

You lost me with this part.

You liking him?

And what does a tattoo on a person have to do with anything?

Well, lets say that he gets the impression that I do not like him. He might be right. My train of thought is that, he is the instructor and I am there to get a grade and proceed on and liking him should not be an issue on who passes or not.

The tatoo, conveys a person who is not conservative. People say to trust people who look conservative. Maybe that is true. I just trust people too much. I might not make it through the program. It is so sad. I did my best under the circumstances and a classmate just ruined it. If the classmate did not tell on me, I would be okay. I hope I make it. My focus is really shotnow. There is a test on Monday, and I might be wasting my time studying..:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

I think we are just trying to clarify, reasonably someone would not be put on probation unless there is even more to the story that you did not disclose. Apparently you may have probs since you judge ppl on their appearance. Having my tongue pierced and a tatto on my arm that no one sees does not make me any less of a nurse.

That's one of the most judgmental statements I've seen on this site so far. :o

:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I am not being judemental, but she has a big colorful tattoo on her back.....So maybe they are right..........I trusted her and she goes on trying to get me kicked out of school? She COULD have told me to tell the instructor about the wound....But she had to go tell him herself to be all like a good nurse.....Anyway, I am very sad...I might not make it..........It is a community college, and the instructor sees failing students ALL the time....:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: May God be with me......:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

Right now, I DO NOT trust ANY of my classmates...They could look conservative or non conservative..I do NOT trust any of them..................It is a very COLD world................:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I told another classmate about my probation that looks consevative, and I was afraid that she might tell the instructor about it...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: Its a dog eat dog world............I worked very hard at school........:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: That is the whole story and nothing else....

I'm sorry this is happening to you, but just keep in mind there are many people out there who have tattoos, piercings, etc who are conservative, and there are conservative people in the world who will stab you in the back. And dont think that the rest of your classmates are going to stab you in the back just because that one person did. Try to get to know them first. I hope things get better for you.

Maybe you could talk to a counselor for guidance.

Not to be judgemental, it just sounds like you are having some problems relating to people right now and appear to be overwhelmed.

Call your school to talk to a psychologist or counselor (many schools have them on staff for counseling) and talk it out a bit.

I wish you the best of luck.

I am sorry that this has happened to you but I think that you are being very judgemental about this girl... I have a big colorful tatoo on my lower back... but that doesn't mean that I am not trustworthy, or can't be a good nurse or friend or even someone that other classmates can trust and it really has NOTHING do to with being conservative or NOT!!! .... I think that you need to take a hard look at yourself... I knwo you are sad and mad about this whole situation however judging her for a tatoo doesn't make you any better.

Good luck in this...

It is unfortunate, and for that I am sorry for you. However, even though you dont "do anything" with the dressings, you should report any abnormal data to alert the RN to the issue as you are assigned that pt. Your eyes are one of the most important tools you can use in nursing. Just get back on the horse and show them all you can do this and want to be there. You know whether or not you are preped enough for clinical andn you should always ask for help, from your instructor or another RN when you are unsure of something. This is safe and responsible nursing care and will always reflect positively, not neg, unless you havent preped at all. Critical thinking is key...think it out...

Good luck and cheer up. You have to get back up there are give it another go! You can do it!

Do you know what being on probation means? :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: It means doing everything perfect. I mean you have to be the best student, no errors at all...:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: I am just a student...I do not know everything...I am at the clinicals to learn............I bet you I will not make it......I mean, I never worked in a hospital or gave meds or gave shots...The instructor today, did not let me do any of that...I bet you I will not make it....It is the end for me....:crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2: :crying2:

Didn't you post a while back that you were on clinical probation? What came of that?
