A patient presented to triage in severe respiratory distress after aspirating cinnamon while doing the cinnamon challenge. Her O2 sat was in the 50's. She was immediately intubated but prognosis very grim. please pass the word that this fad is dangerous and can be fatal.

Trying to eat a bunch of cinnamon, morte ... it's all over YouTube, etc. Looks painful and stupid...

I've heard a lot about this as a school nurse. We have been warned to keep a close eye on it because once it catches on the behavior spreads. Thankfully I have not seen it in my school yet.
I just keep trying to think back...did we do things this stupid as a kid? I'm sure I did stupid things, but this just seems like a whole new level of idiocy.

I'll have to look that up. We've been dealing with crushing hydrocodone and smoking it in a joint at one of our local schools - a 7th grader.
First thing in the morning too - weird.
