Myers-Brigg personality test....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone..I thought it would be fun if we took the Myers-Brigg personality test and shared with everyone what our specialty is or what we hope to do (if not yet a nurse or want to change jobs). If you're confused maybe this can help. For example...as an INFP (introverted, intuitive, feeling, peceiving) I would be more suited to work in mental health, public health or oncology. I would not work out so well in the ER, OR or medical surgical. I knew all this but the description just makes me more confident that my intuition about myself was probably right on. HERE'S ANOTHER INTERESTING LINK TO CHECK OUT INFO ABOUT YOUR TYPE!!!! :)

I think it helps to get some insight to your natural temparament and to keep it in mind in choosing your work setting. I know it's not the end all and be all but it's a tool that can be used and it could be helpful. I hope others find this at least a little hepful.

I posted this before but it was moved to the breakroom so maybe this time it wll get a better response. I love this forum..you guys are great!

Specializes in home & public health, med-surg, hospice.

Hey, I had a profile of the "Counselor Idealist."

The majority of my experience has been in home health.

However, I am becoming more and more interested in providing care to nurses. In the form of advocating for them and in promoting and advancing the profession.

How's that for idealism?

Specializes in Too many to list.

I think you're on to something and should pursue it!!

I'm ENFJ, unfortunately I couldn't find the link where it would tell me what I'd be best in. I know ultimately I want Trauma.

Specializes in NICU.

I'm an ENFJ...and apparently I'd be more suited to being a nun, artist, counseler, teacher and doctor than being a nurse...Scary :chuckle

I'm a student, but I'm planning on NICU, maybe PICU when I graduate...

ISFJ. The description was right on. I don't understand what the numbers mean though. Can someone help out a confused person here??

Don't worry about the numbers. I think it just means what percent of that particular personality part you are. So if you are 95% sensing, you would be more sensing than maybe a 32% introverted. I am also an ISFJ. So how do you like cardiac nursing? Krisssy

Specializes in OR.

Mine was ENFP- it stated that I hate bureaucracy(sp?)-which is true(always trying to "stick it to the man") and that I fall within the "champion idealist" category, meaning that advocacy is big with me. It also says I like a fast pace and am easily bored(also true). I work in the OR.

This is really cool! I'm an ENFJ and I want to go into ER/Trauma nursing.

For those who want a link to the site that explains nursing specialties and personality type- this is a good one:

Specializes in NA - 100 years ago.
your type is

[color=#d000a0]intj

i still have one more year of school to go, but i feel a strong affinity for the nicu. i also plan to continue my education and get my masters. hope i chose a good match for my personality.

i'm an intj, also. i don't know what i want to do. i don't know enough about my options to make a decision, yet. what makes you feel so strongly towards nicu?

anyone else an intj? have you decided where you'd like to work and why?

thanks!

This is fun! I came out an ISFJ - I have taken it before, but I cannot remember what the results were the first time. However, I have to say there are very few if any similarities between myself and Mother Theresa, if only we all could be as caring as she!!

Is there a place to find out what specific jobs within the nursing field fit with the above personality type?

Specializes in med-surg.

I'm an iNFj, like a lot of you; it said

ISFJ. Thanks for sharing this interest test!

Less than 1% of the population are categorized as INFJ... and I'm one of them. :)

I am currently starting my pre-requisites, but my dream is to work on L & D. I think my personality would be good over there because I have a natural ability to be an encourager and women who are in labor definitely need that. However, I am also open to NICU, Pediatrics, Oncology, and so on. I think I will discover during clinicals what is the best fit for me.
