CHLA RN Residency March 2018

Published

Hi guys!

Just wanted to start a thread for applicants to the Children's Hospital LA Nurse Residency for March 2018 :)

If you'd like you can comment below on where you've applied and your application status. I've applied to the 5 West Step Down Unit.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi @littlehearts! Congrats!! Same here. When is your interview? Have you gotten a confirmation email yet? I haven't gotten one and it's been since Thursday. I'm a little worried that they've forgotten about me. :-/

@seastar135, I haven't gotten a confirmation email either. It took a couple days when I got my speed screen interview, so I'm not too worried. I interview next week. When is yours? Did you ask how many got a call for a second interview?

anyone hear back from PICU for second interview?

anyone hear back from PICU for second interview?

no not yet :(

Hey everyone! I had my interview for 4 West today. Although it went well, they asked me if I was open to transferring to 5 West. Not sure what that means and even though I am open to it, I'm super nervous! Good luck to everyone!

Was this your first or second interview? If it was the second, do you remember questions they asked?

I precepted on 5west this summer. It's a step down unit, I worked with a lot of diabetics and kids with infections as well as the more stable vented kids. It got comfortable with those vents right away and felt that the nurses on that floor are so helpful and knowledgeable because unfortunately they do end up calling a lot of RRTs and or codes, one day we had 4 on the floor before 11am.

I went straight to panel and I find out this week if I get the position or get an interview with 5 west, or even get anything at all -__-. It's so terrifying when everything is so uncertain.

Anyway, most of my questions were behavioral. The feeling I get with panel interviews is that they want to know who you are and if you are a good fit for the unit. As long as you're personable and passionate about hem/onc, nursing, and CHLA, you'll be good :).

That's what they told me! I'm currently working as a new grad med/surg tele nurse for a long term acute care facility where my most of my patients are vented or trached. When they found this out, they asked if I would be open to transferring to 5 west because of my experience. I'll let you guys know the outcome of this :).
