  1. Hello everyone! I have a phone interview for a peritoneal dialysis nurse position with DaVita and I was wondering what questions they may ask? Also, here's a little background story about me: I graduated nursing school in 2017, couldn't find a job until a month ago when I started working for a nursing home and I HATE IT! I only had 1 week of orientation and I work nights with 30+ patients. I am so worried that I am not providing the best quality care at all because it feels like I'm just passing out meds and charting. I also feel like I'm not learning anything about nursing. I heard DaVita offers 3months of training and the schedule would mostly be during the day so immediately this already sounds better then my nursing home job. I think I am open to learning more about dialysis and being a dialysis nurse but one day I would like to work for a hospital and I keep hearing that being specialized in dialysis makes it hard to get a hospital job and I hope that's not true. Anyone here used to be a dialysis nurse and was able to get a hospital job? For now though, I just want to focus on this phone interview and get out of my current job!
  2. i got an email saying i didn't make it good luck to everyone who has an interview! you got this!
  3. i still have to do my phone screen today...i think they're trying to complete all the phone screens before reaching out to people again. btw how long was your phone screen?
  4. in the email, she just said phone screen so i'm assuming your phone call was also a phone screen too? how long was your call?
  5. oh will they be asking me interview-type questions? like why kaiser, how did you handle a conflict, strengths/weaknesses, etc? they want me to do the "phone screen" either today or tomorrow and i'm so worried i have no time to prepare
  6. i just got an email to do a phone screen....does anyone know what they'll ask?
  7. I'm not internal...i received the email on friday around 4:30pm. i haven't received any phonecalls either...i guess they're doing it differently for everyone?
  8. Hello everyone! so i just recently got an email saying that I need to complete a candidate snapshot and email it back to them. in the email it also says that their group interview day will be on august 7 and that we'll be informed if we get invited to it. did anyone else get this email? i hope we can keep each other updated...thanks in advance and good luck to all! :)
  9. hi sorry i just now saw your message! so yeah they asked common behavioral questions such as tell me a time when you had a conflict with a coworker and what did you do etc. i also had a portfolio and so they asked me some specific questions about it...basically make sure you have personal experiences that you can share and know how to articulate them!
  10. hello kevin418! the first time i took the nclex i used kaplan. kaplan is basically practice exams and videos that are like powerpoint presentations you can watch. even though kaplan was a pretty good site for me to study from, i prefer uworld much more because of the pictures they provided instead of videos...it helped me learn and study a lot more. it really depends on your study habits and whether you get more from videos or pictures, etc. uworld also had practice exams you can take. i also studied from two books....the prioritization, delegation and assessment book which really helped me and the saunders book which gave me background knowledge on cardiac, neuro, etc. i def recommend those books if you can and in the saunders book focus on the main systems that are mentioned the most on the nclex. in terms of how long it took me to retest, there were some problems that i went through that made me wait for months for my ATT and it took me forever to reach to someone...it turned out my email address was incorrect in their systems (which was really frustrating tbh because i just wanted to retake my exam). i took my first exam in july and took it again in december. it should take you around one month to get your ATT. i hope this helps!
  11. hello! so even though i completely missed the last round of application, i was able to apply for august's program and i got an interview!! now i understand that it's 7 stations, 10 minutes at each station but were the questions they asked mostly behavioral ones?
  12. hello! i just found this thread...i also received an email today about an interview! i'm a little nervous tho because in the email it says there will be 7 different stations where i'll spend 10 minutes at each station and so i was wondering if anyone know what kind of questions they'll be asking and if we have to possibly "act out" a scenario?
  13. Hey guys! I wanted to start this thread to keep everyone updated! :) also, i have a question about the application...so on their website there's two different links where you can apply to either the ICU or med/surg/telemetry unit but can we apply to both? i already applied to ICU and I would like to apply to the other unit as well but when i completed the ICU application, it asks for which two units you would like to work on and it included the med/surg/telemetry unit too so i'm a little confused and i don't want to risk eliminating my app because i applied twice...
  14. so from what i looked up online and from my understanding, it looks like we have questions to answer and that we have unlimited attempts to film ourselves answering the questions...i could be completely wrong though since i didn't do the video yet but i prepared some basic interview questions yesterday. i just can't believe my email said 30 interview questions because that seems a lot! i've done like maybe 12 questions max. in the past but my email did also say multimedia too so maybe it's also multiple choice/fill in questions? honestly i have no clue and i hope the experience is a good one lol good luck everyone!
  15. also, is it really 30 questions???
