I am absolutely convinced that there is a group of people in my med/surg class that is cheating on every test. It makes me mad because I study so hard. Should I voice my concerns to the instructor. I believe they have a test bank.
Snitches get stitches where I am from.Nothing worse than a no good rat. Who cares what anyone does as long as it is victimless, mind your own business. Who cares if someone else takes a risk and gets away with it? This boils down to childish jealousy. You are jealous of those with the guille and cajones to take a chance and beat the system.
I don't know where some of you get your holier than thou attitude that nurses are some blessed saint that can never have real human flaws. A nurse is someone that gets paid to provide a skilled service.... as long as the employer and client are satisfied with the service then there is no problem! If these suspected "cheaters" get through school and pass the Nclex and satisfy their employer and client on the job then what right do you have to complain?
Focus on your own weaknesses.
I agree. Mind your business. Spend more time figuring out what you need to do to pass. Maybe you should join them. j/k
. You are jealous of those with the guille and cajones to take a chance and beat the system.
Actually, I think it would take more guile and cojones NOT to try to beat the system through cheating, because that's the easy way out.
Focus on your own weaknesses.
The only part of your post that I can agree with.
i also think its kind of absurd that people are saying be quiet- i see there point and to a certain extent i am with them. you and the other classmates shouldnt have to pay for their stupidity- and i may have even of said& used them not being able to pass the nclex also as my reasoning....but imagine if somehow someway they did pass the nclex....they would be out there harming people- but as i said before, this is only if you have proof...not just assuming they are cheating because they say they dont study and yet get 100's on tests...they be closet studiers who knows?!?! and to me, its not just the destination thats important, but its also the road on that journey that you take... keep studying, like i also said before, if you notice some thing is up,im sure your instructors, who have been teaching for a while and has been in the game for a while, know whats up to....its a shame what part of society has become!
just for the record, many have said that if she doesn't have proof, to keep quiet. this could just be someone starting a rumor in spite. does she really want to get caught up in that? then it becomes a he said/she said and she may be labeled as being spitefull. but by all means if she has proof, than tell the instructor, but like others have said, do not tell anyone else that you told the instructor.
Unless you have some kind of proof that this is going on, then you should keep your misgivings to yourself. Not all instructors are concerned about dealing with cheaters and it really is their responsibility, not yours. But if you have the proof, then report it and go on about your business.

I think you should mind your own business as sad as it is you are always going to encounter people like this. You should focus on your studies and let karma take care of these people.
Mr H-TOWN, with all due respect. Did you write victimless? Laughing out loud . Nurses are responsible for the treatment, safety, and recovery of acutely ill or injured people. What can we expect with these people who as you referred to as beating the system. We can expect future evidence of injuries to a patient possibly being one of your family members. We are not talking about beating a system or escaping bad karma, we are talking about people's lives. Answer me this MR. I FOUND A LOOP HOLE, You have a patient coding on other words, the pt is dying and you are so lucky to have the I beat the system RN, HOW IS SHE/HE PLANNING ON BEATING THE SYSTEM THIS TIME? I know how, she/he has cheat sheet on the back pocket. I have to say that I find you to be very ignorant.
I am assuming that you have no direct proof, or you probably would have included that information in the original post.
I am strongly opposed to the idea of people making accusations. Hearsay doesn't count as proof, it is just a fancy word for rumors.
The reason you should just carry on and worry about yourself is this- talking to a teacher/ professor/ instructor etc. and letting her in on your suspicions is morally wrong. Why? Because making accusations effects those people in a negative way, whether action is taken against them, or they are simply observed for their every move. Accusations can hurt people in a real way.
It's like an innocent person being accused of a crime. They may be absolved in the end, but what about their reputation, their job, their family life?
School is hard enough already, we've all heard the stories about clinical instructors not treating everyone equally...
If you have direct proof, hard evidence, then by all means report it. If you don't, it's not your place at all.
Like many others have said, worry about "you" and not "them".

Thats one advise I always follow. Don't worry yourself over other people. Unless you have solid proof, your accusation is baseless.
I can easily fall into that accusation group. I'm currently in my first semester, reading only half of the required materials, have really bad studying habits but yet currently have high B average. Reason why I'm still doing well with little effort because of experience and familiarity with style of testing. (military, emt-b, ER tech) There is even 3 girls who sit in front of me who texts, gossip, and talk thoughout the entire class but still doing well because they took CNA courses before nursing. (I will improve my studying habits before 2 semester hits.)
You just have to look at the perspective of the students. Not everyone is the same level of experience and knowledge wise. But if they are cheating, then they are setting themselves up for failure. Sooner or later they will get caught.

To Fair-logic,
I'm sorry, but I fail to see a real, live victim here. Now in your imaginary scenario there was a victim, but I can make up imaginary scenarios that involve you as well. How about I go through all your tests from school and pick a question you got wrong because you lacked knowledge and then I'll make up a scenario that involves this lack of knowledge/incompetance and point to you as the person that killed my imaginary victim.
You sure do a whole lot of assuming. First you assume that I cheat when I never said that I did. Then you assume that just because I "allegedly" cheat that I would somehow be incompetant and a much worse nurse than everyone else. Then you assume that I, or someone who really does cheat, would let a coding patient die.......... this is silly.
Just because someone uses less than honorable means to keep up their GPA doesn't mean that they wouldn't still do better than you on a test without the help, and it doesn't mean they wouldn't be able to competantly perform their nursing duties. You see, those are assumptions that are based on your emotional reaction to my previous post.

To Pro-tattlers,
I find that people that engage in this kind of petty behavior (tattling, gossiping, backstabbing, wild speculation, and basically just being in other people's business) are usually of a certain gender. Members of this gender tend to go through their whole lives without knowing what it's like to be at risk of physical violence. The opposite gender, however, tends to learn at an early age that this petty behavior can lead to some serious consequences. Once you've been kicked in the head a few times you tend to gain a little perspective, as in, someone else cheating on a test is pretty small potatoes compared to having to spit your own teeth out of your face.
Really, there is no victim here... If you are of the moral standing that your tests should be taken as honestly as possible then GREAT! Revel in your purity! But, this need for vengance against everyone that does not share your moral high-ground is ......well, petty. "But it's just not fair!" There is no fair in life! It's not fair that someone was born richer, and it's not fair that someone was born stronger, and it's not fair that someone was born smarter. Now get over it, live your life the way it makes you happiest, and mind your own business.

Ever hear of domestic violence AGAINST WOMEN?!?
Thankfully most schools, *especially* of nursing, are of the same high moral standing!
I seriously can't believe what I'm reading
To H town,
I did not assume that you are a cheater or stated so. I just find cheating to be misleading, deceiving, and dishonest. People like these would try to cut corners as registered nurses again and put a patients life at risk. Wouldn't you agree? will this behavior lead to other deceptions in nursing practice? Would you want a nurse that has cheated on nursing exams to care for someone you love? Reporting cheaters is probably difficult: whistle-blowers are liable to denigrate themselves, feeling as if they're betraying their peers. But there's a bigger picture to consider:the cheaters are also entrusted with patient care. Their work in the classroom demonstrates they can't handle the job. The cheaters are the ones who have betrayed a trust, anonymously. I'm just stating the facts while you write about theories and philosophies based on your personal values.

I think this is disgusting and this person is probably a cheater and hopefully will never be responsible for care of anyone I know.
I am very surprised that so many people share the view that this is not a patient safety issue. There are ALWAYS people who pass licensing exams in nursing, medicine, law, etc that make it by some fluke random answering or something, these people are a danger to society and these cheaters may go on to be these people. I have seen so many posts and heard so many stories about someone who can't believe they/someone else did not pass the NCLEX- people who know their stuff fail and often as people who don't pass- it just happens.
That doesn't necessarily mean you should tell anyone. You need something besides claims that they don't study and decent grades. I knew people who said the same thing and went home and did nothing BUT study. Some people just can't admit they were not born knowing everything.
I'm sure your really angry and frustrated and well, feeling cheated. If you really feel like you need to talk to someone, maybe start with an advisor. I think it is pretty unlikely that you alienate yourself over this but be tactful.
