Hi there...based on your "screen name", I'm assuming that you are a CCAC student here in Pittsburgh. I am also starting in January at the Allegheny Campus. Based on the letter I received from the school, you must purchase your books in the Nursing 101 packet at the bookstore and then bring everything with you to orientation. I also received a list of the required text books, but they caution you that if a newer edition is available at the time that they put the packets together, you will need the latest edition. It is a pain, I know and the first semester is supposed to be the most expensive (at least for books) because you are purchasing your drug guide, manual for laboratory & diagnostic tests, etc., so it's not just the texts tat you will need for class. I don't know if this helps you, but you may want to conact your nursing facilitator at CCAC about all of this before you spend money buying books online that you may not be able to use and may not be able to return.
Hello! Yes I am ccac student. We need to have that nursing 101 packet but that is just something that cost $5 in the bookstore.I don't think that we are obligated to purchase books in our bookstore.I met few students who allready finished secound semester and they all purchased their books online.Thank you very much for your concerne and advice!Good luck!!!
I usually ended up getting mine from Amazon.com used or Half.com but this site was a great search engine to find the best price.
I buy mine direct from the publishers new and barnes and noble or borders. I google coupon codes for each of the websites and always get free shipping and save 30-40%. Many of my friends buy used from the sites listed above and save a bit more than me but I like to know my books are new, have the companion cd's, online access codes, etc. Plus from date of purchase to arrival I get my books within 3 days. If you don't mind used amazon and half.com are popular though.

I have bought a few books on betterworld.com and shipping is free. They are having a sale right now, something like buy 5 books, get 15% off...buy 10 books, get 25% off, but it only applies to some books. I got an email about it today, and the sale goes through Jan. 5th. Too bad I already bought most of my books!
A lot of the books I bought were the next oldest edition...so if I'm supposed to get the 6th edition, I buy the 5th edition. I was able to get a bunch of books that way for like $3.00 each (and free shipping) instead of over $100. All my friends who have recently graduated NS say that's the way to go.
