Change room, staff room, gym, locker room?

Hi there. SN here...

Everybody has seen it on TV right? These nice areas where staff can go to relax, or shower or change and lockers and whatnot. Or work out. Or read a magazine during your (ha ha) lunch break? I would love to work at some place like this, as would everyone I imagine....

My question is simple: Do amenities like this exist in your facility? And if not, what does your facility/workplace where you spend 1/3 of your life offer you?

Curious.

We have a breakroom with lockers for all permanent staff as well as a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, sink, cabinets, TV, table, chairs, and a (really old) sofa. There are two staff bathrooms on the unit and a conference room as well. We don't have a changing room, but the bathrooms are big enough to change in if you were going somewhere straight from work. There is a small gym in the hospital, although I haven't gone inside yet. They charge $35 a year for membership, and I just haven't decided yet if I'll ever feel like working out after a 12 hour shift. Also, there are showers in the OR and L&D locker rooms, since their staff are required to change into hospital-issue scrubs for work and obviously have more of a chance of getting dirty than most of the rest of us do.

I think our facilities are more than adequate, and yes I do get to take lunch every shift.

This sounds great.

I do wish as an introvert, that there would be somewhere I could go every day to be really alone for a while. Hospitals lack private spaces.

i often use the chapel for refuge and peace.

Our floor has a break room with coffee maker, TV, fridge, and tables with chairs and a computer. We also have a locker room with lockers. I just wish that we had more than one bathroom. I swear that everytime I need to go someone is in there.

Your a funny guy!! I almost took that as a serious question!!!

One of the big surprises when I started to read this forum years ago, was that all hospitals did not have locker rooms and showers for their employees.

We have locker rooms and showers in the facilities at my job (I am not a healthcare worker). I think the healthcare industry is lagging behind in this area.

We have a break room: sink, refrigerator, tv, closet, and coffee maker. The only time I have sat in there for more than 10 minutes is for report or a staff meeting. I Generally eat lunch in there, standing up, and for less than 10 minutes. It should be noted that we are docked 30 minutes time for this, and another 30 minutes for 2 fifteen minute breaks. It would take me 60 hours of work to rack up 30 minutes of lunch breaks, and I have never taken a 15 minute break.

We have a break room and and a locker room together with coffee machine and frig, and microwave and all the nice amenities going with it. We have a separate rest room, and we have a separate shower room. The shower room is nice. Once in a while rather than take a lunch break. I actually take a shower. So wonderfully refreshing.

My unit (L&D) has both a break room and a locker room. The break room has a table, microwave, fridge, 2 couches and a chair. It also has a tv, and the makings for coffee, tea and hot cocoa. All the other units on the hospital where I have ever had clinicals have break rooms with similar ammenities. Our locker room just has lockers and its where we change into our hospital scrubs. I'm sad to hear that not all hospitals provide this for their employees. When you're on break, you deserve to actually relax!
Our break room looks similar. We also have 2 computers for staff use.

We have a small cramped room with 2 small tables, microwave and no tv, no computer. Walls are bare. No lockers, no showers.

The other LTC facility has a better lounge with a couch, tv, table and a fridge, microwave and lockers. Although it is nothing fancy like on the tv.

We have tiny lockers right in the N. Station. The toilet is back there, too, very little privacy. There is an employee break room but it isn't handy. It's not on the floor, it's a long walk away. Our coats are hung right in the N. Station in a little cubbyhole. There isn't much really for us. We do always get our breaks, though, I must say.

We have a locker room with 2 bathrooms plus a break room with a shower and TV. When I take my break off the floor I go there. It is nice to have a little bit of sanctuary!

Our Staff Lounge is located between both ICU units, it resembles something like an atrium, there is a long table in the middle and couches around the walls. We have a TV and thank god we have cable. The bathroom is located on the side and its pretty roomy.

The other facility however... its more of a walk in closet. There are lockers all around the walls and a table in the middle, only 4 people fit at any given time... and here is the kicker if the microwave and coffee maker are on at the same time the TV turns off lol
