How about a small angel with the RN letters somewhere?

When I pass my boards I am going to get a caduceus with "R.N." under it. It will be on one of my pecs. I have several now and this will be the one that will mean the most. Whatever you get you deserve it and congratulations.

How about a skull and crossbones?

I've been toying with getting a modified "Star of Life" or a Re Cross with the Staff of Asclepius on my left deltoid (as my right deltoid already has a tattoo)...

I have been planning to get a celebratory tattoo. I passed my NCLEX in July but I'm waiting to find the appropriate tattoist. I am planning a Kuan Yin tattoo on my back. From Wikipedia, "Kuan Yin (觀音; Pinyin: Guān Yīn) is the bodhisattva of compassion as venerated by East Asian Buddhists, usually as a female. She is also known as the Chinese Goddess of Compassion by many." Just the energy that I want watching my back and assisting me with my nursing.

I got a tattoo when I graduated in May with my BScN and it has nothing to do with nursing. I wanted something small that I can hide when I'm old and gravity has worked its magic! (haha). I play the fiddle and music is such a big part of my life so I got a tiny black treble celf.

I must say it did feel good to finalize 4 LONG yrs of school with a tattoo.

My only advice is to think long and hard about what to get before it is on your body forever.

(my friend got one too, she got a red, canadian maple leaf).

This is a good idea to get one after graduation. I really really want to get a tattoo, but I will NOT get one until I think of an idea and still like the idea after 3 years. I change my mind SO much and I would be so afraid that I won't like it after a month  I have an idea, nothing to do with nursing, but I have to see if I still like it in a couple of years! If I can't stick with an idea for 3 or 4 years how can I plan on getting something that will be on my body for my whole life?!

A friend of mine at work has a EKG rhythm across her back with the nurse emblem in the middle. Pretty cool.

how bout the florence nightingale lantern? im thinking about getting that, possibly with a bird around it somewhere. i think its the only symbol that we nurses could all understand if we paid attention to the history part of nursing school =] good luck and let me know what ya get/got!

Just found out I passed boards yesterday! I am getting a tattoo on my back..it has nothing to do with nursing though. It is the "tree of life", the trunk is a man and woman hugging and intertwined..ahh it's just beautiful.

GREAT idea! I think once I graduate I will definitely get another tat. I am toying with the idea of a Phoenix rising from the ashes. I have been thru a lot of turmoil and illness in my life and I did a complete 360 and am FINALLY on my way to where I want to be! I think it would be very fitting. Plus I am a Scorpio and the Phoenix is another symbol associated with that sign.
