Im graduating in may with a BS in health sciences from Michigan State. The nursing program is extremely hard to get into here so I just decided to get a health related degree while there and then apply to other nursing programs when I graduated.
I applied to about 4 schools and I just got accepted into my first choice school so I dont even care about hearing from the rest of the schools I applied to. Im really excited/nervous and proud of myself because I got in on the first try:D. I also get to start off in the actual nursing courses and clinicals since I already have all the gen ed and pre req courses completed, which also cuts down the cost by $18,000!
What about you guys?
I got my acceptance letter late February for my school of choice, they choose 64 students out of some 300-500 who apply and it's an excellent, hard program! I'll be earning my AAS and since I finished all my required/pre-req courses for nursing, all I have to focus on are the clinicals/labs/lectures!! I plan on working after graduation of course and then pursuing my BSN part time (most likely online)! I too am a single mother of two small children (2 and 4), luckily my school is less than 30 minutes away and I have an excellent support system! Woohoo to all those who got accepted and for those who are waiting, good luck!
I got my acceptance letter on February 18th. The wait for my acceptance letter wasn't nearly as bad as the wait to start school on August 30th. I am so excited! It seems like it's going to be FOREVER!!! All I want to do is buy all my supplies, get all my shots and start school. I did already get my AMAZING littmann Cardiology III Stethoscope with my name engraved on it, my blood pressure cuff, the required dumb white nursing schools shoes, pupil gauges, bandage scissors, gait belt and clipboard. I'm such a nerd!!!! Now I'm just waiting for the list so I know what else I need.
What is the first thing you guys have done to celebrate? I texted everyone and then told the director at my current job. Yes, I'm quitting (well, in a few months)!!!

WHOA! Youre much more ahead than I am..lol. I havent gotten anything yet, actually Im in the process of finishing my first BS degree, I graduate in May. So Im just focused on graduating right now and then after May 8th I'll start focusing on nursing school. I did get a medical terminology book though to be a step ahead and Im also going to be getting a care plan book soon, thats what current nursing students highly suggested that I get.
I got my acceptance in February for the local LPN program here. I'm super excited and can't wait to get going, I keep telling my husband (who graduates this June from the local college), that I can't wait for summer to get over so I can start school! We start Sept 7 and the class only consists of 25 students. It a very competitive program and I'm loving the small class size.... way more opportunity for one on one instruction. I also have a few friends that will be joining me, so I won't be totally on my own.
I'm planning on slowly buying supplies and getting ready over the summer so I don't have to dump a huge amount of money all at once into books and supplies.
The only downside for all of this is that my husband has to move 3 hours away for work because of his (hopefully) new job out of college. We'll be apart and only able to see each other on weekends/holidays. It's going to be rough, especially seeing how it will only be our 2nd year of marriage!
But congrats to everyone that has gotten in, and best of luck to those still waiting. It's going to be a long summer, but this Aug/Sept is going to be the most interesting and challenging fall of our lives!
i posted this somewhere else, but what the heck, i'm so excited, i'll post it here too!!! i got my acceptance letter in late march for fall 2010 admission to randolph community college adn program in asheboro, nc. this will be a second career for me as i already have a bachelor's degree that i never really used. i truly feel like nursing is my calling and i can't wait to get started! classes begin aug. 16th. also, i applied to an lpn program at another school and actually got waitlisted. i'm so glad i applied for the adn program b/c i was only going to apply to the lpn school at first.
