i apologize for my last post - I was wasted on cheap beer and some scratch weed. I'm sure Western students will enjoy the experience. They really seem to be focused on their students and really provide a great education for the tuition cost. I hope we can someday work with one another and share about our experiences.

got letter last week but not going - I dont want to go western because they put me on alternate just because I was sleepy during interview. I got into lb and fullerton which have relatively higher selection requirements so I think its an insult that western put me on their alternate list when I'm most likely going to achieve better academic performance than the majority of the cohort (based on my previous academic performance). I mean if you got a 3.7 GPA with a BS in Bio at a UC blazing and drinking during the entire 4 years and studying the day before midterms/final and scored in the 98th national percentile on the TEAS with 5 hours of studying wouldn't you be insulted that Western wants you to pay a 40K+ for the first year of tuition after placing you on the waitlist?

Anyone get financial aide info yet.

Go CSUF! It's newer which means more flexibility so we can probably help influence the development of the program. I'm rejectinig the CSULB bc of the anesthesia program at CSUF and just because it seems like I will enjoy the experience more. I'm not interested in NP or CNS so for me it's like I'll be making more sacrifices (extra cost first year, farther commute, TIME) going for something I don't care about.

Yeah the Kaiser school accepts it for their program (Kaiser Permanente - School of Anesthesia) - CSUF grad program requires a BSN to apply to the nursing department when you apply to the CRNA program. I seriously doubt that they would be that cold hearted towards their own EL-MSN students . Yeah I'm going to go to Fullerton just for CRNA - even though Long Beach is more prestigious generally I feel like I might regret having to suffer so much for a CNS or NP certification when CRNA is my goal. Honestly the only reason I wanted to goo to LongBeach was because I got in - I know several people who were rejected from LB and I was surprised I got in despite my difficulties with their faculty (the front desk people who acted condescendingly towards me for turning in everything last minute) and lack of preparation for the TEAS. It was a hard decision but I agree that it will be more fulfilling for me personally as it will give me a chance to network as you say and possibly even begin shadowing CRNA's (or at least CRNA students) early. Hope you enjoy Long Beach - we'll probably have the same rotation sites one day so maybe we can compare experiences!

Hi guys I need help. I got both but don't know what to get into. My goal is CRNA but LB is supposed to be hard to get into and I feel like im missing an opportunity if I don't go. But CSUF will be cheaper on gas and first year tuition and will be more laidback than LB the first year.

Exactly - since our goal is CRNA we shouldn't even bother with an NP cert. I mean we'll all be making the same amount of money starting and by the time most NPs are hired from staff nursing (2-5 years) we'll probably be on our way in the CRNA program. I'm leaning towards Fullerton also because it seems like it would be a more laidback program - that's not a bad thing, I just don't want to cram everyday like I did for my bio degree. And the cost issue - we'll prob save a big chunk by going CSUF - I'm commuting and this would cut my gas bill in half.

Hmm but no body hires NPs without a lot of experience.... I'm really torn here because I know CSULB will be torture for the BSN half and it will have less financial aide than CSUF since it is a post-bacc.

Just got CSULB email... this is worst than waiting for acceptances - I have to decide between getting into advanced nursing early at LB or being patient and going to CSUF to increase my chances of getting into their CRNA program...

Great! I just got the CSULB one..... this throws my plans at CSUF into questioon! I didn't think I would get in by far - I argued with the people in the office a lot and thought I made a bad impression (both times I was stinky from running to different schools for transcripts and printing my application out on the deadline day). ARGH!! This just makes it worse.... CSULB and get a BS and MSN-NP or CSUF and get a general MSN but higher chances into the Anesthestist program.....

For me I don't mind - I'm only 23 and I don't really want to start working a full-time job yet (I have an online business that's giving me enough pocket money). My ultimate goal is to get into the anesthetist program there and if I have a good record during the program and make relationships with the faculty, I'm sure it will help me when I apply to the program with less experience as an ICU nurse than other applicants. This is a big assumption but I think they will prefer someone who succeeds in their general Masters program over other applicants. If people are interested in getting a CNL cert or becoming an NP, I'm sure that it will be a quick path after getting a general Masters.

Yeah I was in the same place - my last 60 in undergrad weren't perfect but I made up for it with 6 pre-req courses I took at a community college which prob increased my GPA a bit (~20 more units) but not enough to put me at a 4.0 like a lot of people. The interview probably put me over the edge like you... Are you planning to just work as a bedside RN after we're done? The focus on the program is leadership and there's not that many CNL positions out there so most likely we'll all be regular RNs for a bit. I'm planning on just working as an ICU nurse for a year or two after graduation and then reapply to CSUF's anethesia program or get a Ph.D. I'm not TOO excited that I got in - nursing school is going to be a lot of work and my goal will take probably 3-5 years after we graduate from the MSN program. But I guess I'm just happy that I don't have to work for a while
