CCBC, Fall 2011 Applicants =)

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hello Everyone,

Here we go again! This is my second time applying to CCBC's nursing program. I look forward to chatting with everyone as we wait for the GOOD news! I believe things happen for a reason! I have good faith that Fall 2011 is going to be my turn for acceptance. I guess we will see if I am right.

For anyone who was not accepted this Spring, we can be a great support system for each other :).

GOOD LUCK!!!

Just a bit of advice. When you guys do get into a nursing program, try to get a hospital job as a tech or student while still in school. The economy is so bad right now that new nurses are finding it hard to get jobs if they do not already work in a hospital.

Thank goodness I already work in a hospital as a CMA/tech, and since the hospital is paying my tuition and I have a service payback agreement, I'm sure I'm obligated to work for them which hopefully will make job placement a lot less stressful in a few years. :-)

That is great Corrine. I graduate in December and I have 2 student nurse jobs at 2 separate hospitals. I just did not wanna go through all those years of school only to be unemployed upon graduating. For everyone else if you do not already have a CNA get it right after you complete Fundamentals. The job search is intense. It took me a year and a half to get 2 interviews for the 2 jobs I have and I put in well over 100 applications!

That's awesome that you're almost finished! :yeah: It's great to hear from people who are already in the program and are successful with the program. I only know of second semester nursing students so to hear from someone who is nearing the end, that's amazing. :D I know what you mean. I took the long route and become a CMA first because I wanted to be absolutely sure I wanted to get into nursing so I already know how to draw blood, give injections, do/interpret EKG's, etc. so I think that'll be beneficial to me in the long run. I'm still undecided if I want to get my CNA after Fundamentals  I think it would make sense though because it would open up a lot of doors while in nursing school. But I've heard the same about there not exactly being a shortage right now, that most new grads are having difficulty with finding jobs. Lucky you for having two jobs in case!

Since you already have a hospital job it may only be beneficial to get your CNA if you want a nursing student job at the hospital you work because to get a student nurse job under Maryland law you must have a CNA. Yes, your skill on injections, phlebotomy and EKG's are extremely beneficial to you and would look great on your resume. The best advice I can give to anyone entering nursing school is to develop a strict study schedule and stick to it. Go to the library and study instead of studying at home to limit distractions and most importantly, attend ALL classes. I hope to hear from you guys in a couple of weeks when you get accepted into the program because Im sure you will!

Thank you so much for that suggestion. Based on you telling me that I would absolutely NEED the CNA, you confirmed it that I'll go ahead and get it once I finish Fundamentals. I'm sure it would look better on a resume in the end that I took the initiative to get my CNA and work as a student nurse. Again, thank you! :-)

I hope this wait ends soon! This is painful!

Yes, I can 100% agree with studentrntobe, that going through this wait again is rough. Last semester when I applied I was still in 2 pre-req's so I am hoping that this time around since I am finished with all of them and got A's that I will make it in.

And definitely have to get cna license after fundamentals; I too am a CMA, but for sure want to get a student nurse job next summer, so the cna is a must have. The wait is driving me crazy but I am trying not to think about it too much since there are probably a few more weeks to go. Fingers crossed!

ksm84, it has been a long road. Good luck to you. I hope to meet you soon. I am sure once I see you I will remember you from Micro class. :)

Okay everyone, here's to another week of stalking our student accounts! :-) The school is still closed tomorrow but everyone should be back in full force on Tuesday!

So let the stalking carry on! ;-)

Hey everyone,

I checked my account and still NOTHING! I was hoping to see a seat fee!!! Please post if you get one as soon as POSSIble! I was so anxious over the holiday weekend because all io could do was wonder about was next steps if I get in or not!!!

My pastor preached about being Patient because you are about to rise! I hope he means rise into the nursing program.......

I guess we have two- three weeks at the most?

Trying to be PATIENT!:)))

So last fall cycle it looks like people started finding out around may 4th, so I'm hoping that next week maybe we will find out/see seat fee's on our accounts!

Anyone else having trouble loging into simon or blackboard today???

yes I cannot log-in today. On simon it says not a registered user and WEB CT is saying my password is wrong. But really it's not.... how annoying
