Cardinal Stritch ADN program & tuition?

Again another post looking for those who have gone to Cardinal Stritch. I'm trying to figure out the best option for to become an RN. I already have a Master's & Bachelor's in Business so pretty much any program I go into I'll have most of my General Ed's done. (Just finishing up A&P2 and microbiology.)

Stritch's program sounds pretty good because I'd only have to go part time for the first 3 semesters which would leave me time to work. I'm just a little worried about their tuition costs. Do loans cover all of their tuition fees? I'm just concerned about my financial situation if there is going to be alot of immediate out of pocket costs. Any information you could offer would be great!

I'd be interested in finding this out, too. I have applied to Stritch and, if I get in, I'd be starting in January.

This is a old topic but I am considering going here after finishing my pre-req's at MATC. Can any current Cardinal Strich students give any info on what you are currently paying for tuition and fees? Thanks! :yeah:

Tuition and fees for a full time student are $10,000 per semester. If you are a part time student it is $700 per credit. I am thinking about attending there in the fall and have been to their orientation sessions. I think it's quite pricey and I haven't been awarded financial aid yet either so I'm not sure how much in loans, scholarships, or grants are available. Hope this helps!

10,000 per SEMESTER?!?!? :spbox: Oh my goodness!! How many semesters does it usually take for a fulltime student who is taking just the clinical courses? I would really love to go there to finish, but my goodness, that seems VERY pricey for a ADN degree. Then again the money I make after I get out may be worth it. :chuckle

Trust me I know, the $10,000 seems very daunting. I like you would only have to do the core nursing classes. So my estimated budget given that I'd have only have to complete 41 credits is $30,000 without books of course. They do offer scholarships for good grades but you have to be going full time. I wouldn't be full time until the very last semester just because of all the coursework I already have complete. Also it's a five semester ADN program, so that is also somewhat frustrating because it's a semester longer than if going to WCTC or MATC for the ADN. If you are interested in attending I would highly suggest going to one of their information nursing sessions.

I forgot to mention the one positive thing about attending Cardinal Stritch is that there are no waitlists or petition processes to get through to get into their nursing program.

I heard that and its one of the things that appealed to me. Plus it would be nice to have my ADN degree from there as it is a well respected school; I have heard some not good things about MATC. :zzzzz

I do plan to attend one of their information sessions later this year. I still have time since I still have to take a Pre-req's but I like to have my ducks all in a row before I begin anything so I know where I am headed. Looking at the starting salaries for nurses in the area, it seems like it might be worth the cash. Maybe I will attend full-time to get the scholarship, I saw they had a couple for transfer students. I am in the first semester now, and it is fantastic so far! I love it. Great professors, very hands on, small classes, etc. It is expensive, but (at least in my experience) they give great financial aid. My husband and I make a pretty good living, so I thought I wouldn't get much aid, but this semester I only had to pay about $1000 out of pocket (not including books). I do have to take some loans out, but you might be surprised how many grants are available at that school.

Wow, thanks for the info! :D That gives me some hope that I wont be up to my eyeballs in debt once I finish. Did you get grants as well? If so, which ones? I know I am eligible for the Pell Grant, but I'm not sure at this point how much would be covered. Thanks for the response! :typing

I got a St. Bonaventure Scholarship (that one based on GPA, I think) and I also got the Cardinal Stritch grant. I didn't qualify for many additional grants like the Pell.

The financial aid office does a good job of working with you to help you afford to go there.

I too REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY want to go to Stritch for my ADN, my biggest fear right now is $. I am currently on the wait list at MATC for their CNA course and plan to quit my current job and work in the field so I can after 1yr of being a full time employee at a St Lukes, get a full scholarship. I currently only make 21K a yr as a full time flight attendant AND have to work constantly changing hours, grr!

I am applying to Cardinal for the January admittance. If you don't mind my asking what was your NLN score and GPA? I have BS in Health Promotion, a 3.5 GPA and take the NLN in August. I am just trying to figure out if I can/will get in.
