University of Wisconsin Health Nurse Residency 2019

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Hi - wondering if anyone else is graduating in December 2019 and is/has applied for the nurse residency program at UW Madison beginning in the winter. I applied a few weeks ago and heard back about a phone interview. Was hoping we could help eachother out with dates and info!

Specializes in Peds.

I graduate in nov and will have my phone interview the second week of October.

congratulations!! have you heard or know any info about what the phone inter view is like? I am guessing some situation based questions but its so hard to prepare.

For anyone that's looking for more information, I had my interview and here's the general timeline:

After interview, you either do or don't get an e-mail asking for references. if you get the e-mail, you move on. 4 references needed, its a skill-survey, like 27 questions ranking from 1-7. They are scoring each applicant on a rubric: interview, references, GPA, relevant work experience, and goal statement. If you score high enough, then you get invited to the in person interview day which is going to be November 12. if you can't make that day, she said they work with you so that you can come a different day.

During the interview they ask for your top 3 units of preference. The decisions for which unit you interview for are based on your rubric score. Higher scorers get their first choice, and so on. I hope this helps any of you looking.

got an email saying i have an in person interview!

congrats to you as well!!!!

I know the day starts with the informational presentation and then you go to the floor you are interviewing for. Some people on other forums said that they met with the nurse manager and another nurse. Also read that the in person interview is also difficult but nothing too crazy.

i forgot..and you get a tour of the unit

I feel like this application process has been going on for so long im ready to go! very cool, im excited to hear more about the program during the presentation. I know they said they are taking 49 nurse residents on this cycle, but I wish they included how many will be at the event......

thats what the recruiter told me during my phone interview last month unless something has changed since then! yeah I have no idea like what the chances are at this point so thats making me a little nervous. but I know the timeline is quick from here on out. like we should know around thanksgiving!

I have my interview tomorrow. I wonder how many applied for them to accept 49 nurse residents, thats quite a bit! I am relocating from California to Wisconsin. Anybody else have their interview yet? I will update you all after how it goes! Wish me luck!
