Long time lurker, new time poster. It seems to me that there is a lot of anger and hate directed toward one another on these boards. My question is WHY? It feels like these boards are just a microcosm of how nurses are to each other in real life. Why are nurses so mean, caddy and rude to each other. Maybe this is the reason that although we clearly outnumber other healthcare professionals we can't ever get anything done, advance our profession...because we are too busy quabbling over meaningless BS and trying to put one another down. I know that this isn't everyone, and I have seen some great and supportive posts, but holy moly!
If we all got along there would no need for a forum. I think this forum is a representation of life. There will be disagreements over policies, protocols, personalities, etc. You grow by have disagreements, but being mature enough to accept each of us will differ in opinions as some time or another. I think it's a healthy community. I am not sensitive in my personal life, so I definitely wouldn't be sensitive on a forum.
I don't get on here to hold hands, sing songs, paint rainbows or anything else. I give honest, straightforward answers that are based upon life experience and work experience. If the people asking for advice want people to tell them a certain thing or in a certain way, they should be specific about exactly what they want to hear, so people like me know not to say anything at all.

Allnurses.com ain't no hippy drum circle, and thank the heavens for that! It's a place to learn, vent, argue, debate, gripe, discuss controversial topics, argue tirelessly over every issue under the sun, and that's why this thread has four pages worth of replies. Our profession involves bodily fluids, high emotions, higher stress, adrenaline spikes, and the sheer pig-headed determination to carry on without falling to pieces... throwing a little passionate discourse into the mix seems pretty par for the course.
I use the internet to laugh at pictures of cats doing silly things, watch youtube videos of teenage daredevils try to idiotically remove themselves from the gene pool, and to use this website like a company watercooler. You might find it hateful, but I find it decidedly not boring, and that's enough for me.
Thanks for your opinion everyone. I appreciate all the constructive criticism
At All Nurses you'll find a resourceful site with great information. Information given by new, experienced and hopeful nurses-to-be. Take whatever information serves you well and what you don't agree on, you can always comment on and yes, disagreeing is a valid option.
I'm sure we all learn from each other even when our ideas are so far apart from each other, but that's the whole idea behind this site.
So the answer to your post Can't We Just "ALL" Get Along?! The answer is a harsh NO.
But that's ok
