Does marijuana really cure just about every ailment known to mankind, or do you also need coconut oil to augment its curative properties?
So is exercise, weight loss, and eating right. Yet people manage to avoid those.Or you can just substitute dark chocolate for wine. Though while wine is legal, I like a nice chocolate infused wine.
Interestingly enough, I wrote two of my senior theses on the health benefits of wine and chocolate, respectively, on cardiovascular health. Though both in excess can lead to some pretty undesirable outcomes, in moderation they have been shown to be as effective or more so compared to pharmaceutical medications when paired with a heart-conscious diet and regular exercise. Feel free to PM me for links to the research.

I'm just going to take your word for it.
Yeah, I personally see no problem with medicinal or recreational use of MJ.
Pain or nausea or appetite problems? Toke up if it works. Want to chill out and eat Doritos all weekend? Toke up, have at 'er. Doesn't sound like my idea of a good time, but as long as you're not neglecting your kids or hurting anyone no one really needs to intervene.
None of anyone else's business, especially not the government's...and of all the things out there to get worked up about it's just not anywhere on my list.

So are you ok also with someone who wants to chill out and shoot some heroin?
If not, where is the line? I am not saying that the line should be at marijuana but it has to be somewhere and most arguments I see for recreational marijuana use could also be used for a myriad of other currently-illegal things (other drugs, prostitution, gun laws, etc)

... which one? New Year's, St Patrick's Day, or 4th of July? Or do you mean any day a big game is being played in any sport?
To add:
My opinion on marijuana is the same as alcohol: don't drive on it, don't come to work on it, and if someone says "no thank you" then stop badgering them about how good it is for them and move on.
I couldn't care less if it was legalized as long as there are the same laws applied to it as alcohol since it is a sensory altering substance.
(I have never used, have family/friends who do)
Agreed

From a health perspective, heroin is a bad idea, though we give substances that are v. chemically similar all the time. I personally think it's stupid, which is how I feel about most other substances. Including alcohol.
ETA - the biggest difference between MJ and the other substances is that MJ has known medicinal uses whereas, say, PCP doesn't.
From a political perspective....I don't think heroin or any other substance should be illegal. Those who are going to use are likely going to use whether it's legal or not. Those of us who don't feel a draw will not need a law to keep us away.
As with anything else - substances, guns, prostitution like you mention - the line for me is when your use endangers/violates someone else. You can't show up to work stoned (or drunk, or on speed), you can't neglect your kids because you were stoned/drunk/sped up, and you should be arrested if driving while impaired as current law already states.

I think we need to draw the line at Doritos.
I'm only half joking, *Doritos* is actually a bigger societal problem that we're facing right now. How many people do you think abstain from heroin only because it's illegal?
No, if we're going to start talking about lines being drawn, and excluding everything that's a threat to health, the list is endless - sugar, MSG, GMOs, anything non-organic, gluten... etc etc. Here in South Africa, kids are not really into mj any more, they're going for crystal meth. It has reached epidemic proportions and has already destroyed thousands of young lives and devastated families. If only we COULD get them to kick the meth and chill out with good old-fashioned weed!

How about chocolate infused wine?

You want to control adults' personal choices but you don't want to set any regulation on the crap food marketed and fed to children despite it being a much larger problem for our country. Why is that? I don't get your reasoning at all.
