Cannabis, the cure all?

Published

Does marijuana really cure just about every ailment known to mankind, or do you also need coconut oil to augment its curative properties?

:D

I don't deny that cannabis has some beneficial effects for some people. But most advocates just want to get high, and I will never have any respect for that. Legalize uses and forms that actually help people. Hang the stoners out to dry.

This is what I don't understand. There is ZERO medical use for alcohol and yet it is perfectly legal and socially acceptable for people to get "buzzed" or even "drunk", but someone wanting to get "high" is so much worse?

I say, hang the drinkers out to dry too!

Hey, now...lets not be so hasty...

Wine is good for the heart!

I've never had an issue with MJ, in fact I've long been a proponent of its legalization. I used to smoke regularly years ago, and the only negative effect was a lack of motivation.

Fast forward about 30 years. I'm not working, nor do I expect to. My husband (who uses it for cancer pain) and I were at our daughter's home, and since she and her husband also use, we decided that we were all going to smoke a bowl.

I was severely depressed at the time and figured it might help. It did, temporarily. So I did some more the next day, and the next. The following night, I was in the hospital for suicidal ideation and intent. Now, I'll never know if the weed caused that, but I do know that I'll never chance it again. I can be around it, but I'm too scared to partake.

Yea, um, DON'T do that then.

I'm sorry, VLV. :(

My father was provided marijuana by the pound, by the VA over 40 years ago to help combat his nausea due to chemo. It worked.

Oddly enough, 2 of my 3 daughters are allergic to it!

So is exercise, weight loss, and eating right. Yet people manage to avoid those.

Or you can just substitute dark chocolate for wine. Though while wine is legal, I like a nice chocolate infused wine.

What's the problem with wanting to get high?

I didn't say all those things weren't. I indulge in that, too.

For myself: I don't want to get high, actually. BTDT. It was tons of fun when I was younger. And while I do think the effects of a pot high is usually less violent than a drunk high (who gets into a fight after smoking pot? NO ONE), it's not my thing. I like my wine.

I DO think it's so stupid of us not to farm it and use it as a huge cash crop. Sell it legally. Make sure it's "just" pot and not laced with opiates, meth or (back in the day) "laced with dust". Sell it like alcohol and have the same rules apply. Tax it.

I read Red Kryptonite's response as SHE is personally against it, and doesn't want to be near it, for herslef. And it is illegal.

Not speaking for you, Red, just how I saw your response.

Ah, I guess I interpreted "hang the stoners out to dry" to be a bit more than "No, I don't care for it for myself."

Oof, well it could be that. I'm a former stoner. Rut roh.

As a School Nurse I have to add: Pot is HUGE. Bigger than when I was young.

Pills are way bigger, though. But that's a different thread.
