I don't know if anyone else has heard this or not, but supposedly certain scents of Colonial Candles help aid the brain in learning new information. "Harbor Mist" works on the RA-system of the brain and "Rainwater" helps you utilize parts of the brain that are normally inactive during learning. I'm wondering if this works with other scents/brands, too. Anyone have a clue or know anything about this??? I figured we could all use a little bit of help when studying! I bought "Harbor Mist" last night and have a Psych test tomorrow, so we'll see how it works!

Some scents can help you concentrate; look into aromatherapy sites if you are really interested.
I use a lavender scented candle (I don't burn it, just open it) when I do hypnotherapy as lavender can be an aid to retaining information.

You're joking, right?!? I mean... as someone who most likely believes in the scientific method, you don't REALLY think that "aromatherapy" has the ability to affect cognitive skills (other than grossing you out so that you can't study) ?

I'm just trying to see if certain aromatherapy scents will help with studying, that's all. But I'm confused on what you mean by "grossing you out," because so far, my candle smells REALLY good.

I just think scents are soothing. I don't believe that they boost brain power. Maybe in some people the soothing stimulates the brain...but for me, it's just soothing and nice.
Right now, i have hazelnut candles, on a CandleWarmer, in the kitchen and living room. I have a White Tea and Ginger one in the bedroom. I love the smell when i come through the door after a long shift. IT IS very relaxing.
