Since I like chewing gum when I take exams, can I walk into the exam with gum already in my mouth? I know that nclex says no gum or candy but if I already have gum in my mouth could I go into the exam? thanks!

I like to have peppermint candies when I test but I know I won't be able to. I will not do anything to jeopardize my passing the NCLEX. If they told me I had to take the test naked, I would LOL
LMAO! I totally agree! Not worth the risk of failing or worse having it on your permanent record.

Do you chew gum during sex? No? Then clearly you can go without gum for the NCLEX. Just sayin' ...

IMO, there could be few things much worse in this time of you life than realizing, "I would be an RN by now, but I chewed gum....."

chewing gum is considered as cheating. studies shows that if your chewing the same flavor of gum when you are studying, it is easy for you to recall things.
I dunno..I'd be afraid to choke on it..I prefer smoking during sex.

Gosh it was only a question being asked in this post. For some it can be relaxation.
For me, sucking on hard candy is best, but I can see how this may not be allowed so I will not attempt it. Would not even occur to me that chewing gum would not have been allowed, so I am glad I saw this post.
But how is chewing gum considered cheating, is a guess.

i read somewhere that chewing the gum 5 minutes before the test helps you better recall as well. I like to chew gum too when I take tests, or study. whats up with the NO GUM law? no bracelets? earrings? what the heck? are we going to write the answers on our bracelets?
I love the comment about taking the test naked. That one cracked me up, but I totally agree as well. That was funny!:rotfl:

i will not address the specific question regarding purposefully defying rules and regs of the nclex exam.....no comment.
that said, i didnt know you couldnt chew gum.
i think the bigger question is why are they gum nazis? so if i had a unwrapped, new stick of wrigleys i couldnt use it?

No gum during the test. I don't recommend trying to sneak it in. Not only are you watched by the test proctor, you're videotaped and recorded as well. If they see you put something in your mouth, or chewing a lot, you could get flagged for review. It would be pretty stupid to have your NCLEX results negated because you couldn't stop chewing gum.
There's a few reasons for no gum. The first few that come to mind:
1. Someone could have something written on the wrapper, or say they are chewing gum but actually have something else in their mouth.
2. Loud gum chewing/blowing bubbles could distract other test takers.
3. The movements that your mouth makes when chewing gum can be similar to speaking. So chewing gum may mask or look like talking if someone has snuck in an electronic device/phone.
Some employers don't allow you to chew gum while working. What would you do in that case?

Can we wear wedding rings/rings? Sometimes mine do not come off easy and if I have them on and they ask me to take them off and I can not I do not want to have to reschedule! Thanks, I want to make sure I follow all the rules! And as far as taking the test naked, that might be the one thing that would make me change career ideas!
