Hello,
I have a question? I am a lvn and during an interview I was informed I would be responsible for giving injections with Lidocaine in it to pediatric pts. I did not think that was in a lvns scope of practice. Does anyone out there have any info on this subject. I practice in California

If you're talking about something like Rocephin mixed with lido, yes you can. You cannot give lido IV but you can give it IM when it's mixed to reduce pain.

Yes. In California, even the medical assistants are allowed to do it.

I'm an LVN in Texas and, yes, I've given IM injections of Lidocaine when mixed with Rocephin.

I'm in Minnesota and we do Rocephin injections all the time--peds and adults. That can be mixed with sterile water too, but I've never done it that way.
Just my two cents. :)

I know our LPN's in PA do it - specifically Rocephin mixed with lido IM.
