Can I apply for license in other state and retake NCLEX earlier?

Nursing Students NCLEX

I just took NCLEX today and I went all the way to 265.... I did not mentally prepare for so many question like this... The last question was easy and not even a priority question..I am not even sure I get it right ... I heard it is possibly the last question that determine your passing.. In contrast to before taking the test, I am in hypothyroid state right now...

I wish I could just took the Prozac that my mother has and go to sleep but I couldn't find the bottle... I just bought a gallon of milk and that's all I will eat for the next 48 hr.

MY question is this... in Georgia, the waiting period to retake the test is 90 days... Can I reapply for license in other state that allow me to retake in 45 days. I heard about COMPACT license that allow you to work in so many states, which may include Georgia? so that I can begin to work earlier...I am at risk of losing my job at this point... I got to talk to my manager when I know my result ...

90 days is a long time to wait...

Atlanta does take part in a 45 day waiting period. It is relatively new and probably unnessasary. Good luck and keep us posted. Denham

I just called Georgia State Board of Nursing this morning.

NCLEX of LPN is 45 days but for waiting period for retaking NCLEX for RN is still 90 days...

I passed with 265! I can't stop crying and laughing at the same time at this point.........

Atlanta!!! Awesome! I'm jumping for joy with you!!! You surely beat yourself up and I'm glad you can now celebrate!!!

I told my friend the other day, I don't care if I get all 265, I just want to pass!!!

Your an RN now!!!

I don't know whether you took NCLEX already but Good luck. Just FYI... don't be nervous if you don't get cut off as soon as you want. My weak point was that I went to take the test with the mindset that I will get cut of at 75-150.... when the number went up and up, I began to feel anxious, sweat, cry and lose concentration and went all the way to 265..don't think of the number of the questions and level of difficult at the ime... During the test, I kept thinking when the questions lacked the bolded words "most, initial, or immediate", I must have been going down hill in the graph... Just answer them all with the best of your ability... and just manage your time because you never know how many questions you will have... I answer my last questions within the last minute!

HI:

I don't think you can apply for another license until you have passed in one state and apply in another. Also, remember....when you have 265 questions on the boards.....Your passing is determined by the LEVEL of the question, not just whether you get it right. For example if #265 was a question that was below the pass line and you get it right, it doesn't matter. If #265 is above the pass line and you get it right, you pass. This is how Kaplan explains it. Hopefully, your #265 was above the pass line and you got it right! Best of luck to you!!! We're all pulling for you!

The original poster did pass the exam with the 265 and is now an RN.

Yes, you can apply to another state, but you start the process all over again. And that can take months to do in some areas.
