Can I apply for license in other state and retake NCLEX earlier?

The answer is no. Compact states are only in effect if you already have a license in your home state. You would still need to apply to the Board of Nursing in the other state.................and what would you put on the application where it asks have you ever taken NCLEX before?

Did you adequately prepare before you took the exam? And how do you know that you didn't pass? People pass with 265, as well as flunk with 75.

I am prepared as much as I thought it was enough. I did almost 4,000. Kaplan (2,500), Suandras (300), and NCBSN ( about 500). I think my problem is I did not prepare BOARDLY about all diseases and I did not mentally prepare for those many questions on the exam. I concentrate to much on priority, delegation questions. I know the trick now. I wish I can go back and take it again. Just doing the question is not sufficient. I got TONS of priority questions initially but then the questions just fluctuate between priority and general questions.....I know why.. it is becuase I am in the borderline due to may lack of knowledge about many diseases (I missed many easy questions that deal with specific disease)! Towards the end, I had a lot of priority questions... then my last question is easy!!

Atlanta, I know exactly what you mean. My test today I had 75 questions on and it fluctuated back and forth from priority to a question about a disease. I have know idea how I did. None of my questions seemed easy and I can't remember what my last question was either. Goodluck.................. This is going to be torcher I just want to know either way. :rotfl:

Doing questions alone is not enough in my opinion to review. Did you actually review each and every answer, the correct ones as well as the rationale behind why an answer wasn't chosen? This is as important as doing questions, probably even more so.

There is absolutely nothing you can do about the time that you have to wait between exams...........chances are that the questions will be completely different, and more than likely will be 100%. So take the time to prepare properly and take your time with going over the material, and know it. Did you use any review books, or just doing the questions?

I did review the answer and I reviewed SOME contents. I used Kaplan course book. I also used saundras... but I did not read the whole book... It is think and very detailed... I wish I read saundras since the beginning... Anyone who failed the test, he/ she can take it again... but the possibility of losing a good job due to failure on NCLEX is unbearable.... I already got a job and finished all the paperwork... so devastating
Anyway, the miracle might happen... will wait for result on Friday....

anyway, I have another questions... can I reapply for some other states that have 45 days waiting time while I took the first time in Georgia?

Oh Atlanta I know exactly how you feel right now.

I just took the exam and I already have thoughts racing through my mind on what I'll have to do if I failed. Mine shut off at 75 and all I can think of is I had to be that dumb. My exam was tons of prioritizing, and a bunch of other obscure disease/ interventions. I don't even remember my last question I was in such shock that it was over that fast. Don't be so quick to panic. Two days isn't that long to wait, once you are CERTAIN which way it went then you should go from there.

I know it is easier said then done but I am right here with you! My job begins Monday, so If I didn't pass my life will be all thrown for the loop too. No matter how much I studied I don't think I could have prepared myself any better then I did.

I'll keep you in my prayers tonight and tommorrow utill we find out. Just remember you're not alone because there is someone in Chicago going through the exact same thing. Feel free to PM if you need to vent.

Thanks for replying I appreciate it and I'll make sure I put in a good word for you with the big Guy too. It's good to have other people to talk to that are going thru the same experiences. I feel like I must have been the dumbest person on some of those questions(most of them). I think that everything happens for a reason so I hope everything goes good for you and your new job. I already started mine and when the results come up that's where I'll be, talk about pressure!!!!

You probably can, but I definitely do not advise it all. There is a reason that these time frames were set up, not just arbitrarily picked. I would think that you would want to review enough to make sure that you pass the next time.

Remember that your next exam is going to be completely different.

I wish I could just took the a whole bottle of Prozac that my mother has and go to sleep but I couldn't find the bottle... I just bought a gallon of milk and that's all I will eat for the next 48 hr.
MY question is this... in Georgia, the waiting period to retake the test is 90 days... Can I reapply for license in other state that allow me to retake in 45 days. I heard about COMPACT license that allow you to work in so many states, which may include Georgia? so that I can begin to work earlier
90 days is a long time to wait...

First, Prozac tends to make most people hyper, not sleepy.

And as someone that is licensed in several states, the amount of paperwork and processing time required would probably cancel out any time saved. It would also take time away that could better be spent studying.

It would be best just to wait the 90 days.

You are right about fluoxetine... My mom took antipsychotics and I saw her sleep a lot during daytime... that's why I had that thought... I took Benadryl instead... I think my mother gave me wrong meds... I still can't sleep. I think she gave me Seroquel instead.... It is stupid that a new grade lose his/her prospective job if he/she fail... why do they offer new grads jobs in the first place?.... It is cruel that the employers said that new grads can't keep the positions when they failed... Have anyone here lose the prospective job when you failed 1st time? Do they give you a chance to retake it?

Well, you shouldn't using meds that are not prescribed for one thing. And prozac is not an antipsychotic, it is an antidepressant...a totally different thing.

In many places, new grads are not permitted to work as a grad nurse at all, for just that reason. Those that do, have it offered as a limited privilege, only on the basis that you take must take the NCLEX at the first reasonable opportunity and pass it. It is legal issue and not always the facility's choice. There are legal ramifications and liability issues to employing someone outside certain regulated parameters.

It is standard at most (if not all) facilities to either demote someone to a lesser position or let them go if they do not pass the NCLEX. Which means many others have been in the same position as you.

I know that you are upset at this, but do understand that these rules are not about you but just the way it must be legally done. Rest for a few days and then gear up to do better next time.
