And while my facility allows for both medical or religious exemptions; unlike the flu vaccination which was automatically granted on submission, the COVID exemption application will be reviewed by infection control.

The facility I work at has basically made vaccination a condition of employment and given a deadline for vaccination. I work in an "At Will" state so your employer does not have to give a reason for letting you go. I got vaccinated in the first round and am also a vaccinator. I still don't understand the hesitancy among educated science oriented people. Hppy

Hppy Unfortunately, when you peel back and explore that hesitancy among educated people you too often find a partisan political trigger. It's an incredible and dangerous reality when educated people will set aside sound reasoning for dangerous political beliefs. There are historical examples of people embracing other political messaging because of political fear mongering and propaganda. We seem to have not learned those lessons in this country.

Jul 29, 2021 Well I don’t believe vaccine hesitancy is squarely among one political faction. In California which is largely liberal democrat vaccine hesitancy is highest in the more liberal areas even prior to COVID. This however is not a discussion about politics. So while politics certainly plays a role it is not the sole or even the predominant reason for not vaccinating. I myself do not belong to either of the two major parties and while I resent government intrusion into the lives of private citizens I still got vaccinated and encourage others to do so. hppy

It's a good thing that I didn't assign all vaccine hesitancy to a single political group when I tried to speak to your stated lack of understanding, isn't it? Still, you are the member who said that you didn't understand the hesitancy and all I did was provide the common denominator among those who are intentionally unvaccinated. I don't affiliate with either of the two major political parties, either. I also am not influenced by political rhetoric that might cause me to view CDC and public health recommendations issued during a pandemic as government intrusion into our lives. I wonder why people view the public health recommendations as intrusive unless some political commentator is suggesting that they are intrusive.

It's also no secret that one of the largest groups choosing not to vaccinate consists of social or political conservatives. I wasn't trying to be obscure but I think I made the intended point. The largest reason that fewer than 50% of my region's population is fully vaccinated is conservative POV and the associated media consumption.
