Calhoun community college spring 2015

Anyone applying to calhoun community college spring 2015??

She didn't mention whether it had to be from Alabama or not, but she did say it had to be issued from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association or from Calhoun. Yes, Orientation will be after you get accepted.

Ok guys the CPR class is at the Madison fire station. It is ASHI and I spoke with the head of nursing who told me it was an acceptable class. I spoke with the guy who does the class and he told me to just call and give a headcount so the instructor will be prepared. It does include skills which is what calhoun requires. It is 25 dollars, al believe it from 9 am until about noon the second saturday in Oct. If you guys want my phone number I'll be glad to give it to you and you can text me and let me know and I can call the CPR instructor, or I can give y'all the fire station's # but it took a few days to get a return call.

I'm dropping of my packet Monday :nailbiting:

CPR doesn't have to be from AL!

I went to the info session. Lynn said we will receive a letter within 6 weeks (historically 4 1/2 but they are short staffed) from Sept. 18th. She reminded us that this letter will go to the address that we put on our electronic nursing application. You will get a letter saying in or out and if it's been 6 weeks and you haven't gotten one you should call. Once you receive a letter, it will detail instructions on how to actually accept your seat. There is a deadline for that as well-she did not give a time frame. Once we accept our seats, we will get more information as to when we need to come to orientation. This information will be sent via Calhoun email. Lynn stressed that orientation is very important and it is the kind of thing that she would expect us to take off work for.

Did she say anything concerning skipping the summer semester the first year?

No but I will ask Wednesday. I'm trying to plan a summer medical volunteer trip so I'll post Wed!

Well, summer could be the ideal time to take a CNA course or find work as a PCT.

Yep! I'm going to try and find a medical mission trip of some kind myself!

Tomorrow is the deadline for applications! :nailbiting: I had to send mine through mail, so I hope there were no issues!

Good luck to everyone!

I was so paranoid about my application I drove to decatur and turned it in. I have crappy luck, and with my luck, it would get lost in the mail. LOL! It wasn't a time issue. I turned it in a week ago. It was a paranoia issue! I saw some people asking questions about the point cut-off. I got to sit down with the Dean of Allied Health, and my understanding is that there is no actual cut-off score. Basically, there are so many seats, and they start at the top of the list and fill the seats until they are full. He pulled the scores from the previous semester, (this would have been the list for last Spring) and said the lowest score that got in that time was in the 120's. But that varies, apparently. He told me he has seen the bottom score that got in as high as 150. However, my Anatomy Teacher told me that makes sense, but the Spring Semester usually has lower scores that get in because more people apply for Fall. I would think that Mid 120's would have a chance, and 130's and up would have a good chance, for Spring. That is just my take from all the info I could get.
