Cal State San Marcos ABSN Spring 2017

Published

Hi, everyone!

Hoping to get a conversation going with other students who are applying to the Spring 2017 San Marcos cohort at Cal State; I'm from out of state and hoping to get some more information on how applications are going for all of you! I'm taking the TEAS soon and finishing up pre-reqs this upcoming quarter, my application will be in by Late July with updated transcripts sent in mid- August! Hopefully that won't hurt my chances of getting in to this cohort, any thoughts? Thanks!!

Hi Tbiomajor!

In my case, I held back on sending my last transcript so that my application could not be considered "complete." Surprisingly, I still received an offer for conditional admission. I emailed my advisor regarding my situation and she instructed me to decline my admission and she would move my application to the Spring on her end. You should email your advisor to see if they could do the same for you. The worst case scenario is that you would have to reapply and pay another $50 for your application. Best wishes & good luck!

I just want to make sure that we do not need to apply through the University, just only apply through Extended Learning ABSN, right?

Hi all! I was wondering if anybody else admitted to the spring 2017 cohort wanted to meetup for drinks or to chill before our first semester starts! I found the FB group by searching "CSUSM ABSN" but found that I was only one of four members. It looks by this forum to be a low count considering how many have already stated acceptance.

For those still in the process of applying and requesting stats:

Considered Nursing: 6 January 2016

TEAS Date: 13 February 2016

Applied: 28 June 2016

Application Deadline: 12 August 2016

Academic Evaluation: 14 July 2016

Acceptance Email: 22 July 2016

Submitted Intent $150: 22 July 2016

Awaiting directives for orientation, etc...

Pre-Nursing GPA: 3.62

Last 60 GPA:

TEAS: 92%

Total Admission Points: 49/50

I've been told that the overall program tuition would be around $45,000 plus all of the other costs.

I currently live quite the drive away (56 exit Camino Del Sur) to put up with Northbound 15 to 78 traffic/gas costs and am wondering if a group other poor nursing students would interested in perhaps looking in to crowded and cheap housing together. Basically a built in study/stress relief group looking for low cost housing?

I thank you for your input! I called my advisor and made him aware that attending fall semester would be almost impossible. I asked if he could place my application in the spring 2017 pool of applicants. He says i have a decent chance of being accepted again, although it isn't a guarantee. My application now states,"student withdrew application." Im not quite sure if that means they placed it in the spring pool. I am going to call before the aug 12 deadline. I am hoping to hear back soon and join you all. Thanks.

Hey everyone,

I decided to retake the TEAS exam, because I had score an 86.0%. However, my new score is 94.7%. My new status for the application is:

Teas Exam Score: 94.7% = 12 points

Pre-req gpa: 3.24 = 10 points

Last 60: 3.30 = 6 points

Which leaves me at 27 - 28 points. I jumped from 23 points to 27/28 by just retaking the TEAS! Anything is possible for people who are low in points. I am hoping to get admission for Spring Cohort. I think my chances have increased, and I am keeping my fingers crossed! Good luck everyone!

Hey Everyone!

Wow I can't believe they have already accepted some people into the Spring Cohort. Congrats to you guys, but makes me a little nervous that I turned my stuff in too late. I just took the Teas yesterday and passed, and was able to submit that. With my calculation I should have about 45 points. I really hope that will be enough to get accepted for Spring 2017. Good luck to all the applicants hope to see you in the Spring!

Hi! I applied for the 2017 absn.. How do they notify you? I thought the deadline was August 12?

Hey guys! I've turned in all my stuff, but I still have my Public Speaking course to take which ends in December... Does this mean I won't have a chance in getting into Spring 2017 cohort?

Hi Chocolate29,

I was in the same boat when I was applying for Fall 2016, I had one class pending and it ended in July. I submitted the transcripts in August. The admissions office told me that Fall quarter was full. I have 28 points. So I am hoping I get admission into Spring 2017.

Quick question to students who have been admitted: Has anyone been admitted for Spring 2017 with 25-28 points? Also, have they sent out decisions or will they be doing that this september?

I am a little nervous about getting admitted. What do y'all think about getting in with 28 points?

Thanks!

How long after they sent you the evaluation of your points, did you hear back/ get accepted?!

Hey,

I received my updated evaluation after 3 weeks of everything being complete. They sent me an email yesterday and informed me that the admissions office will be selecting students for Spring in the next few weeks. If anyone hears back from them in the next few weeks, let us know =]

Hi! Do you know how the process works for pushing your application to spring semester? I asked that my application be placed in the spring 2017 semester after receiving conditional admission for fall 2016. Immediately after this request, my application status changed from," accept/decline admission" to " student withdrew application." Is this normal? should i be on the lookout for another application for spring to pop up in the portal? I am confused and my advisor won't provide any insight despite contacting him numerous times.
