Cal State San Marcos ABSN Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi, everyone!

Hoping to get a conversation going with other students who are applying to the Spring 2017 San Marcos cohort at Cal State; I'm from out of state and hoping to get some more information on how applications are going for all of you! I'm taking the TEAS soon and finishing up pre-reqs this upcoming quarter, my application will be in by Late July with updated transcripts sent in mid- August! Hopefully that won't hurt my chances of getting in to this cohort, any thoughts? Thanks!!

Hey jasmin12, do you mind sharing your eval score?

Hello everybody,

Congratulations on getting accepted into the 2017 spring program. I got accepted to and am looking forward to meeting y'all in our classes. Does anyone know how long we wait before we get orientation information or what the next steps are?

Hi Danieldam,

I think the next step will be waiting for the orientation letter that might send out once the cohort gets full. So, every one can get information at the same time.

Hi Tbiomajor,

I got 42 points (80 TEAS, 3.98 last 60 units, 3.98 pre-nursing core).

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely keep looking daily at my email for any new updates on our orientation information. Thanks!

Hey everyone! I submitted my application in July, and finally completed all of my prerequisites. I do not have a very high point score. My pre-nursing core gpa is 3.24, my last 60 semester units is ~3.3 -3.4 and my teas exam score is 86.0%. That leaves me at a point score of 24 or 25 points. What are my chances for getting admission into this program? I am a little worried. Thank you!

Hi Niikii!

In past forums there have been students who have been admitted with evaluation scores around the mid 20's. It all depends on the pool of applicants and those who accept or decline their conditional admission. You still have a fighting chance, don't lose hope! Good luck! :)

Thank you mrssotoa! I really appreciate the encouragement! I will be taking additional classes in Fall, which may boost up my points to 27-28 points! Do you guys think I should retake the TEAS exam and try and aim higher than 86%?

Wow, I can't believe people are admitted so quickly to Spring 2017 cohort when the deadline isn't even past yet (Aug 12 I think?) That is so great! But also makes me a little nervous. I just completed my application yesterday because there was a lot of confusion transferring my UC courses to fulfill the CSU requirements. Luckily my advisor was very responsive and quickly got all (4) courses approved and completed on my behalf via the CAS submission process. I believe I originally submitted my paper applicaiion through mail in the middle of June, got my first evaluation about 4 weeks later. The process of getting all my courses to appropriately transfer through was about 10 days.

For the admitted students- Would you mind stating what your stats were??

I've been told i got 30 points.

My pre-nursing core was a little low (3.31GPA), but my Last 60 units were 3.5GPA, and I got a 92.7% on my TEAS score. I am very hopeful I'll gain admission. If not I will postpone until next year, as I do not want to travel to Temecula (Live in Chula Vista), San Marcos is a far enough drive for me as it is!!

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!! :)

Hi EsJ87!

30 points is very competitive! It's very likely that you'll get your conditional admission! :cat: The reason why I got admitted quickly is because I was accepted into the Fall 2016 term, but declined and asked my advisor if I could push my application to Spring 2017. I live in Chula Vista too (Eastlake to be exact). It's SOOOOO far! :( There is no way I could make that drive to Temecula multiple times a week.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted, I'm so excited for all of you!! I'm hoping I will hear back soon so that I can maybe celebrate as well! ;) I submitted my application on July 16th, so I'm hoping that calstate will send me a point spread (or maybe even a conditional acceptance?) soon! I am getting very anxious since it's been about 3 weeks, and I know this is a ridiculous question but I can't help myself haha. What time of day did you guys get a reply? Did they send an email or was there just a change in your mycsusm page? Also, I can't find the FB page for our cohort for some reason, maybe once I hear back someone can add me to the group as well? Thanks everyone! :)

Hi, i was just curious as to whether you had to decline and then reapply, or how that works? I just received a conditional acceptance for fall 2016 and would like to be admitted into the spring cohort instead.

sorry, my comment was directed toward mrssotoa
