  1. Hello - I graduated from CSUSM ABSN I was in their 27th cohort. I felt fairly well prepared for 'basic' nursing ... as in anything in ambulatory care and Medsurg. However, I did not feel well prepared for acute care skills (ICU/ED). Even though I completed my 'preceptorship' hours in MICU! ... However, I believe strongly that this is the same with MOST programs- you learn a lot on the job. The school is only there to make you know the basics to be a SAFE RN in order to be trained by a preceptor in your first real RN job. You get out whatever you put in ! I had a lot fo great clinical instructors, some not so great... my biggest complaint about the school was lack of organization but I've come to find out many schools are this way.
  2. May I ask which program you got into? CONGRATS BTW ?
  3. A couple months after you suggested this post my previous employer contacted ME for a FT position working from home as a your RN... pay was the same as my bedside position so I took it. Now I get to 'stay away from the COVID unit' which was a blessing disguise! Just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement ? Hope you are well
  4. Which school did you find that locals clinical for you??? I've still been unable to find one yet!
  5. Where and how to I score one of these gigs??? i have a Master's in HCM and am also CCM certified... I did cm for almost 3 years before i went and got my ABSN. Now I have a year of clinical experience as a floor RN and would love to go back to CM on a PER DIEM basis. However, the opportunities seem few and far between. Which sucks! Suggestions??? Thank you ?
  6. the CA Law passed in 1/2015 SOUNDS GREAT but doesn't really help with matters of the BRN as DUIs are considered a conviction of MORAL TURPITUDE which is considered to be of relevance to the practice of nursing. Therefore, even if your DUI is expunged, and old - it can and often will still be used against you. - Curious as to what happened to OP???
  7. Did you get your license?
  8. Now that the site is back up again -- Curious if anyone else on here got the interview Invite for Sharp CV ICU track? I interviewed on 1/10/19 and was told they still had about half the interviews to go... So I would be notified by phone call regardless of the outcome in about 2 weeks. I was also told that the actual residency wouldn't actually begin for about another 6-8 weeks (at that time). Something about them being short for available preceptors at this particular point in time.
  9. Hi Tee_byrd Yes the Chronic Care Professional certification has been a great learning experience, and tool to use during my career as a case manager. It is completed through the Health Sciences Institute. You pay for both the book, as well as the test to complete for certificaiton. I personally studied ONLY from their book for about 3 months before taking the test and passed on the first attempt. The certificaiton focuses on behavioral ideaologies related to Motivaltional Interviewing and behavioral changes. There is also significant informaiton about the top 5 chronic diseases in America, which is very informative. The whole thing was a bit pricey, but well worth the knowledge.
  10. Just got a call for an interview for ICU track! They're scheduling for out for first week January ❤️ Best of luck all
  11. That would actually be even better for me! LOL so - I guess i don't mind that :)
  12. So does this mean the M/SICU rotation is getting cancelled ???
  13. As far as I know rejections and interview invites for ED were the first to be completed. I know of some poeple having been invited for interviews for the MS/PCU rotation (both internal and external). However, I have not heard of anyone who got an invite for either L&D or ICU rotaiton residencies. However, i DO know of 2 collegues of mine who chose MICU/SICU as their first choice and were rejected within 24 hrs of submitting the applicaiton. I would assume if you put either ICU or L&D as your first choice and you HAVENT heard back yet, that is probably a good sign. We'll keep all our fingers crossed :)
  14. I've not heard of anyone internal or external receiving invites for ICU as of yet!
  15. Mine status has changed to "Under Consideration" as of this morning, but the actual date of "last update" didn't change which was weird lol
