Hello,
I am starting the RN program on Monday, 08/20/07. I am wondering if there are any other students here who are attending or have attended. I am interested in some guidance and a study group. I live in Sunrise and go to the Central Campus in Davie.
Please PM me for my email.
thanks.

I'm posting this again cuz im not sure if it came out before.
I know the process is frustrating, but its worth it. When i applied at BCC, they sent me a letter telling me that i couldnt be accepted at this time becuase i was missing the hcp class. I knew i took it, but when i called back they told me i had to get them a paper transcript, which i did, but i also had to apply again. I was so worried becuase the closing date for application was coming up. But at the end, i got the papers in and i just got the pre-admissions letter.(what a relief) I was so upset for a while, but it worked out. We just cant give up on our dreams.. JUST DONT GIVE UP! you'll get in.
Note: I dont know, but you should call bcc and ask them if they know any other place where they offer the hcp class. When i had the issue they gave me a list of the certifications that are required by them and i saw that class in there. Im going to look thru my papers at home to see wht it said. I didnt pay much attention to it because i already had the class.
GOOD LUCK!
I sent an e-mail to the nursing coordinator and below you'll see my questions and her answer...1. When should a student take the Nursing school Pre-exam?
BCC does not require a pre-exam.
2. What is the name of the pre-exam?
See above
3. Does BCC- North offer the exam?
See above
4. Is there a waiting list for applicants. If so what is the cut off G.P.A.?
BCC does not have wait-lists, we have application periods. The next application period is from August 1 through October 1 for the January 2009 RN class.
It is funny that they wrote that to you, because I am looking at the current Broward Community Website, and this is the information that they have on the site:
http://www.broward.edu/images/ProgramSheets/2127.pdf
perhaps the person who wrote that to you did was not updated on the changes for the current nursing requirements to enter the program.

Don't believe the hype. This program sheet also states that you need a computer class, which is not accurate. The school plans to put an admission test in place. They've been discussing it for a while now. So, who knows when it will be implemented. It is difficult to get info about BCC's program. My advise to anyone interested is to attend an info session with the Assistant Dean of nursing on the campus they plan to attend. The website doesn't provide a lot of info and what's there may not be accurate. This is the same program sheet that I referred to before I applied. It wasn't correct then either.

Hey! How are you?! Just noticed your log-in name. I changed mine from IampattyRN to BumblebeeRN- just wanted a change :)
I know you and sandy453 (not sure the numbers) are in BCC. How is it going there?
I am sure you guys are doing great.
BCC is a tough school. I agree with all the posts. But honest, if you study your hardest- do everything as you are told- do all your reading- you can make it to the last semester and pass.
I think that a lot of people take it for granted- that the reading seems to be "common sense" but are not prepared for the critical thinking level. I know that we read read and read and when it comes to the test- nothing that we read are on that test.
But after the first semester, I can say that it changes and the tests gets better.
I know at south campus is the infamous "Mrs. __" and everyone knows that she is the DEVIL. She teaches the first & 2nd medsurg classes. But aslong as you dont' talk back to her- agree with everything that she says- don't be late to her class- don't ask questions in class- say "hello" to her even when you are not in class- then you will be FINE!!!!!!! LOL
Now that I am an RN, and been working for 5 months, I can tell you that even though BCC was not perfect- I realize that I had a good transition becoming an RN- I am comfortable trying new skills that I've never done before- I transitioned well into my role as RN. I guess because I was so scared when I was a nursing student, I know that I am not gonna fail something if I ask about it at work! LOL!
Hey BumbleBeeRN,
You're right about BCC. Before attending I heard, "It's the easiest nursing program to get into, but the hardest to get out of." It's a difficult program, but I'm doing well with all A's and B's so far. Also, how can I change my log-in name? A classmate has figured out who I am and I would like to regain my anonymity.

I am so happy for you that you are doing well!! I bet you are working very hard for your A's & B's.
BCC is very difficult--- but it is doable because I did it.
To change your name, go to 1. my account- 2. edit profile 3. edit e-mail & log in info- 4. change login to another thing of your choice.
it's easy, I can change it again may 20th! lol, I don't remember how many times I am able to change it.

Hi, did you have her for clinicals? I was wondering how you survived if you did have her, because i'm pretty sure she is going to fail me, and i only have 2 weeks left with her..

unfortunately I had her for medsurg 1 & 2........ I just kissed her ass! "yes mrs. ...., I will get it for you right away mrs....., of couse, yes my bf is from jamaica, yes I will bring pics of my baby...."
You gotta do what you gotta do.
if you are in clinicals with her---always look like you are busy. when she would see me, I would turn around and I would say "I'm so sorry, my pt just called me."
and God forbid you follow a nurse! never do that.
oh gosh, i wish you told me earlier, was she harder on the guys? i'm like 95% sure she's going to fail me for clinical, i really don't know what to do, she makes me want to quit, and i always try and look busy but she follows me everywhere =(. she spent more than an hour and half with me in a patient's room, i seroiusly was going to walk out...
