Hello to all the future Applicants for the January 17' nursing program. I know it's really early and August admission process hasn't been completed yet but I couldn't help my self. I'm so anxious to get in the program it took me a long time to get to this point. I have completed all the pre reqs that have an affect on your gpa and I have a 3.0. I recently just passed the Hesi for the second try with a 76% in anatomy, 92% in math and 80% in the other 3 sections. I'm in MGF1106 right now grades will post early Aug. so I'm going to turn in the Application right after that. I hope this forum can be used for all us to get through this waiting process together.
Yes they do their first selection based on your gpa from:Enc 1101
Mac 1105
Anatomy &Physiology I Lecture
Anatomy & Physiology I Lab
Anatomy & Physiology II Lecture
Anatomy & Physiology II Lab
now every term is different depending on the applicant pool ..depending on how many ppl apply and their gpa's 4.0's automatically in and then it filters down..I've seen on last years thread some ppl getting in with 2.7 so there is hope..again it's all about how many people apply and what their gpa is from those 6 classes
Math is not included in the GPA. They just calculate ENC1101, A&P 1 with lab, and A&P 2 with lab
Kingrn2018 you're right I didn't find that out until I went back and read the August 2016 thread where Nichole stated that.
I thought math was included also when I first applied..not that it made my GPA any different.
I know someone in the thread said the deadline to apply is September 15 I wonder if that is still the case. I want it to be September already

Yeah when i turned in my application they said that they looked at your math, english and a&p courses but upon reading the august 2016 forum nichole stated that they did not configure math into the gpa ..she also stated how you calculate...yeah yeah septemberr 15 i think is the application deadline but you never know they could extend it a week more like they did for the fall...what was your gpa kingrn?

On the pre-requisite sheet on the Health Science Admissions homepage, it states MAC is required but not calculated in the GPA.

Good morning future RNs:
Just a few reminders regarding the January 2017 RN pool:
* The admissions deadline date is September 15 to have all paperwork turned in to be considered for the January 2017 program. However, it is not a hard deadline date. If after September 15, we do not have enough qualified applicants to fill the January class, we can choose to extend the date. The deadline date may also be extended at the discretion of the RN Dean.
* Please make sure you have completed all pre-requisites before the deadline date. On the limited access application it states to meet with an academic advisor prior to submitting your application. This is to ensure everything shows on your degree audit. THIS IS IMPORTANT! If your courses are not listed on your degree audit when it comes time to make decisions, you will not be considered for that term. If you do not see everything on your degree audit AFTER your evaluation is complete, meet with advising again. You may need waivers for the courses, especially if you are transferring in from a university. By signing your application, you are attesting to the fact that you completed all steps listed on the top of the application.
* When decisions are sent, they are ONLY sent to your Broward College email address. We do not call, or send letters in the mail, to let you know your admissions decision. On the application it states: All correspondences regarding the program will be sent to your BC email address. Please make sure you have access to that email.
* When emailing the health science admissions team, please be sure to include your name and student ID, and send the email from your BC account.
Good luck!

It is a 2.8..what about you?
Money aside, Broward College has an excellent reputation with the local hospitals and they are a very rigorous program but it prepares you. Clinicals are tough and can be quite stressful at times but they are pushy for a reason- to mold you into the best nurse you can be. I just graduated in May and it was a hard journey but so worth it. Good luck to all of you hoping to get in in January.
